a couple of my local debenhams stores now have a stand where they thread eyebrows. Its in the makeup dept, so you would be on show, whilst you have it done
dont know if you have a debenhams near you?

The do it in Debenhams in Croydon although it's much more expensive than waxing and it's set up in the middle of an aisle so people are walking all around you shopping. I wouldn't want to sit there having my upper lip threaded!
I too love waxed eyebrows!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -

Frivolous Fay- I had a very similar experience to you. Last November I had my eyebrows waxed in a salon, and the area became very sore and scabbed over. I had a thread going about it at the time: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=589273
It was quite unsightly for a few days, but even worse, when the scabs fell off (I made sure not to pick them) I was left with scars under each eyebrow which are still visible 8 months later. Once I realised that the scars are probably going to be permanent I decided to claim compensation against the salon. Now I must stress that I am not usually the kind of person who subscribes to the compensation culture, but I was (and still am) very angry that they have put scars on my face and don't want them to get away with that. At the end of the day I would much rather have a face with no marks than any amount of money.
I'm using my household insurance policy which has cover included for personal accidents, and at the moment we're still waiting for the salon to give their position on liability. I believe that they did something wrong (had the wax too hot perhaps?) as I have had my eyebrows waxed at other salons before with no problems.
Anyway- hope this doesn't happen to you, FF and that your scabs heal up with no permanent marks, but if it does I think you would have every right to sue, like I am doing.

I`ve tried for years to do my eyebrows - luckily they`re blonde so don`t show too much but i can`t pluck them very well. What i do - please laugh if you want - i trim them with scissors then shave with a razor to try & shape them, lol
Plucking hurts me but is there an easier way, help cos i feel pain!
I`d prefer to do them at home because of finances.0 -
don't pluck them with a pairof pliers-ouch-that hurts.:D0

Ouch, I can't believe you do that!
My tip, only pluck after a hot soak in the bath, draw in a line using an eyebrow pencil and ONLY take out the excess. Oh yeah, just thought of one more, don't do it just before you go out, I did that once - I won't make that mistake agian. If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!0 -
Its best to do it after your period aswell cos before you are more sensitive - try rubbing ice on them before, after and during!!
I find slanted tweezers better rather than straight edged!!Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0 -
I'd recommend the Shavata eyebrow stencils. They can be bought cheaply on ebay. + a set of decent slanted tweezers.
Once you have your shape and have practised a while, you shouldn't need the stencils anymore.
Maybe check out the Shavata website. Plenty of tips on there.0 -
