It is possible to thread yourself. it's pretty easy to do, but like everything takes a bt of getting used to.
get a 10cm piece of thread, knot it so it makes a loop of thread, twist is about 10 times so there it is caught together in the middle, and practice moving that bit between two hands.
The start with your legs as the skin is taught and they are easy to see, move the wound bit of thread over the hairs, and they just pull out.
Chin and upper lip are very easy to do with a magnifying mirror, and I can now do my eyebrows fairly easily. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
Wow, I didn't know that you could do it yourself! I might have a play around later!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

Just a word of warning about salon waxing. Be very careful, because I had mine done last November in a salon and they actually ripped the skin off. I am now left with scars under each eyebrow which I now think are going to be permanent.
I'm now in the process of claiming compensation against the salon.
That other method of threading looks so much safer- I just wish it was more widely available.0 -
I usually have upper lip waxed and the last time they ripped skin off too. I wonder how that happens as the wax wasn't too hot, the skin just ripped off a bit.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0

I've been having my eyebrows shaped and my top lip waxed for 10 years now...have it done every 5 weeks as my hair grows rather fast. Costs me about £8 each time. I can barely feel the eyebrows being done but why does the lip hurt as much each time?! :rotfl:0

I had threading done at a Greek run salon a couple of years ago. NEVER AGAIN  It was so painful, and my eyebrows are used to being waxed so I thought it would be a walk in park. The woman who did it was very no-nonsense and told me not to be a baby when I said how much it hurt! In her defense she was a lovely woman, just not when she was wielding cotton between her teeth lol0

I've had my eyebrows threaded and also waxed and I have to admit there was little difference in the outcome. Also I thought waxing hurt less, but I know other people who think threading hurts less..
