But protecting your tweets only hides them from people who don't follow you. Birdie's colleague is actually following her

Gutted!! My new armband came today Tete and I put my phone in it to try and now it's stuck!! I can't get it out. Luckily the touch screen works through the plastic but still! I'm hoping DH can [STRIKE]get it out later[/STRIKE] save my phone from its current captor! :o

:rotfl: RUDE! Do you mean the plastic has sort of suctioned itself to the phone? I can't help I'm afraid but useful to know the touch screen works!

Yeah if you protect your tweets then only your followers can see them, they can't be RTed and people have to request to follow you. Interesting the number of requests I've had from followers of followers since doing it, who must have been reading my conversations but never followed me before, to suddenly want to follow me now IYKWIM...

Thanks for the wisdom! :) I'll protect my tweets anyway, will stop the random favourites/retweets at least.

I too prefer my online girls to a lot of 'RL friends'. :o I just think that we tend to have more respect for each other's little hobbies and such, like I can ramble on about cross stitch/card making etc and you'll all go, 'Oooh pretty' but I wouldn't post things like that on my FB for fear of people thinking (correctly :o) that I'm a total loser! :p There's also the risk of the really condescending comments from people about how much spare time I must have etc... :p

I'm grateful that although OH knows about my online accounts he doesn't look at them. :)

Gutted that you have to do actual work all day Tete! Sucks! I find that my manager is hardly ever at her desk... until the day when I need to make some phonecalls and fill in forms and she never freaking moves!

How annoying about the phone getting stuck in the armband Star! Hope it can come out with no damage to either item! :)

Cinny, I can pretty much date my love for miniature food back to that book! I never had an actual traditional doll house - just an awesome Playmobil one which I can't wait to get out again for my kids... so they can 'watch Mummy play, don't touch!' :p - but I'd always go into dolls house shops and buy a little food item as in the back of my mind I was stocking up for that glorious day when I'd own a house for them to go in! :o Yep... I was a bit of a strange one! :)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

No the popper won't come undone!

Tete I never thought of that about followers of followers. Kind of like lurkers on here. You don't really know they are there but if you locked the thread they would have to ask to join to read.

My bad, I thought it automatically screened out people you weren't following back!

I'm a long winded liar, so I'd probably start by following him back. Leaving it for a few days. Then blocking, privatising, changing my name to something silly, changing the handlebar name too, and just pretending I decided to delete it :)

YES! This always happens - so annoying! The thing is she's always making personal phone calls - sorting car insurance or whatever, but I wouldn't dare!

I think I worded my post wrong there - I don't post COMPLETELY different stuff in the different arenas - I'll always post a dress I made on FB or whatever (I don't care if people think I'm a loser. THEY'RE a loser :p) - I guess I just don't think most people understand online friendships, blogs etc and I'd feel like a bit of a twerp saying "yeah I've got a blog" - even tho I think my closest friends would love it as they're quite crafty themselves. I actually made a grammar post on FB last night and my best friend said, "You should start a blog!" and it made me wonder if she knows, because my blog name is my twitter name which is my Instagram name (which she follows) so it's not that hard to track me down should you be so inclined ... sorry I'm rambling but this subject of how open people are about their online 'presence' really interests me!

Exactly - it's quite creepy. Or you get the people who never post anything so you *think* they never use it, but they do, they ready EVERYTHING!

(You'll have to get DH to pop the popper and get it out ;) Or something equally Carry On)

Don't you think though its also the timescale of things. The longer you blog without telling your RL friends the harder it is to tell them. Like people calling you by the wrong name :o
