    Hi Lara :)

    Dying to see the closet!

I filled in OH's rax return last night and he is due back £540 so pleased with that. Does anyone know how long it takes to hit a bank account?

Tete how are you doing with AA? You were storming ahead last time I checked.

Not too good, going away for the weekend really scuppered the AA plans!! Almost finished the first round of the border on my rainbow blanket now, takes much longer than a normal granny border but made good headway with it during Corrie last night. Then going to attempt a fancy edge!

CMD - I was going to contact you to meet for a cuppa/drink as there was a possibility I was going to be at a loose end on Friday but in the end my friend binned off her PhD work so I wasn't. I quite often am though when I go over so will be in touch next time!

Ugh, I know I come on here and moan about work all the time but am absolutely sick of it! Male colleague was off last week to look after his sick children (even though his wife's still on maternity leave and both sets of parents help out) and is now sick himself so not in today (although strangely enough he managed to put seaside pictures on facebook on Saturday - seems they're only ill on weekdays), female colleague is off because her boyfriend's ill and manager is just flitting about doing not much as usual :angry: I really am the only one who ever does anything around here. Think I may take a week off sick myself to redress the balance a bit!

Any developments with your notice Shrimpy? And you NIM? Hope everyone is well, feels like I've been out of the loop for ages!

Edit - that's fab CMD! No idea how long it'll take. What's the story with the drums?

Were doing ok actually, been a busy couple of weeks, had a lot on.

Got a call back for that second care home I applied to, which is run by an old friend of ours. Long story short I handed in my CRB check form to them last Monday. Another application I put in has asked me to come to a stage one assessment day, I'm not sure whether this is a good or bad thing. Its good in the sense that at least I'm ticking boxes, but it strikes me as odd to have an assessment day for a single, entry level care role. And the number of applicants it implies is less than heartening.

Had an interview last Tuesday for possibly the only company I'd want to remain in Market Research with, didn't get it but the MD offered to put me in touch with the right people at any other agency she knew people at that I would be interested in, which was nice.

D was away most of last week so got a LOAD of work done on the garden / garage.

Have made at least 5 trips to the tip this week getting rid of garbage, father in law took a car load of timber to his to stick on the fire and a neighbour took another load down to the tip for me.

Got a new window into the garage to replace the broken one. Its double glazed and with the oil filled radiators out there, which I've not yet had to use, its not that much colder than the house, plus I can now move in there without having to go sideways to get through the tiny gaps between random stuff.

And to top it all off the fence panels arrived yesterday, so assuming the weather isn't appalling I might be able to get the fence up this weekend.

ETA: This one is for you Beccie http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-22154756
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Sounding pretty positive on the job front NIM, hopefully very soon you'll be enjoying full time work again! :) Well done on all the housey stuff you've been doing!

Great news about your OH's tax CMD! :T

Big hugs for working with rubbish people Tete! :( I'm a rotter, but I'd totally stitch them up by making a list of everything that *should* be done, taking a week off 'sick' (i.e. catching up with some TV, reading, crafting etc :p) then coming back to see what's actually been done then complaining to management about how little work happens in your absence! ;)
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Yes - at least you're making steps, it's all good! :)

 Problem with that is that I come back to it! Happy just plodding on with things and loooking forward to leaving them in the lurch in September :D

Did anyone else get an email about Quidco Premium? I hope there are no snags, like a Premium annual fee?! Loving the sound of the Amazon cashback too!

Hi all. Grace and I were away last week in the lakes, lots of pics on facebook for those on there, but here's a good selection for those not, I know you all love a good picture, although sadly these aren't of baking or crafts!

I was amazed at how much Grace reacted to what we were doing, she had to see every display at Beatrix Potter World, talk to every child she met, get on every boat she saw and give the driver a piece of her mind.... but it was Beatrix Potter World that amazed me, I just didn't imagine a barely 1 year old would react so well to the displays when most of them weren't moving/lighting up etc.

We got the keys to our new house this morning so am only in work this afternoon and tomorrow, then we are moving everything and cleaning up the old place.

I got the job! Eeeeee! Have already told my line manager, she wasn't very happy but was pleasant enough about it. Am already panicking about everything I have to do before I leave! Weirdly OH has an interview tonight as well for a job elsewhere.

    Yey, more congratulations!

    Beccie, hows your mum doing?

Took about 5 days for me.
Ooh you're going to be an Auntie Birdie, how exciting :)

Eek Dinah, would NIM commute daily to Leeds? Because that would be hellish surely!? We used to live north of York, sort of halfway to Scarborough, and my mum commuted to Leeds and it turned her into a zombie, she loved the job but it was awful travelling. And you guys are plenty further north!
we kind of accept a commute up to 1.5hours each way without much quibble. I've been doing a 50minute each way for 8 years now. It's by no means ideal, but if it's a job he's passionate about it's his choice to make. Train wasn't an option for this one as it was nowhere near the station. Personally I think it would be a better balance to take a £13k one here and be able to take care of Grace more of the time.

Spent this morning sorting out documents for Grace's first passport, NIM is getting it countersigned this evening so hopefully we can send it off tomorrow - Greece is getting close.

Hadn't noticed that. So premium is kind of the same as the old Quidco, but there is now a free basic version? Wish I'd noticed Amazon on there, spent nearly £3 yesterday getting some potato bags so NIM can feed his habit. He put a lot of work into the garden while we were away, so now we have big plans to turn it from the neglected patch of grass it is now into something enjoyable and usable. Starting with a few veggies.

£co sent me an email over the weekend to say they are doing away with their fees so I don't think there will be a fee Tete.

Boo to rubbish work colleagues. When I left my job in march I had to attend an exit interview and they gave me a feedback form to fill in. I filled all the boxes, wrote at the bottom of the page and on the back! Once I started I couldn't stop. The director, who took the interview, was shocked that I'd felt that way and she told me she was going to speak to the people involved as she was not happy with their behaviour. Probably why I never got a leaving present

NIM sounds like you had a very productive time. Well done. And fingers crossed for the jobs too.

Ooh dinah. Those pictures are fab. Grace is such a cutie

On the quidco blog it says premium has a £5 fee, basic doesn't have a fee. But the email I received was in no way clear there was a fee, it was much more - look we're now free!
