Seems the voters have seen right through this pathetic shallow political ploy and told Dave to "do one".
No surprise there then.:D
Still early days and a lot of confusion as YouGov are doing a lot of field work, but whatever about leads, it does look as if there isnt much of a referendum bounce!
I think you are right about the voters - his worst mistake was to underestimate their new-found 'expertise' (ie social media/rolling news etc) and one thing most people hate more than anything else is to have an insult to their intelligence - they will take offence (from whichever party does it)
Now he is at Davos bleating on about the ref , trying to look supportive of an idea he hates and looking a bit desperate and weak - I hope the cons have someone waiting in the wings... maybe David Davies... or Boris!0 -

You mean the arch Europhiles Kellner (boss of YouGov) and his dear wife. 'Baroness' Ashton (EU wholly unelected 'foreign minister'). are running around with their backsides on fire?
I can hardly wait for the results of their 'research'. We all need a good laugh at this time of the year..0 -

Now there is yet another one! Populus this time - I would post about it - but i cant keep up with all these results - so, more later!
(what i HAVE had time to note is that just 8% of ukippers would be swayed by eu speech to switch back to cons, 17% said they were LESS likely to!)0 -

I didn't say I was swayed by Cameron's speech. Like many, I'm surprised he hasn't been locked-up for fraud after his previous bogus 'cast iron' guarantee.
I'm just laughing at you, so ideologically damaged that you'll clutch at any poll that gives the result you, so desperately, want to believe.0 -

eh? You say I said you said you'd be swayed???? Didnt mention sway in relation to any 'individual cases' including you.
Unfortunately I've now had time to time to look at not 'any poll' but all of them so far eg Populus one says Dave’s speech did little to improve his chances of winning a Con majority at the election.
A quarter of Liberal Democrat voters (23%) and Labour voters (26%) said Dave's "renegotiate and referendum" strategy made it less likely they would vote for Cons in 2015.0 -
Support for Cameron’s Conservative Party has risen 5 points, to 33 percent, while Labour’s remains unchanged from last month on 39 percent, the poll shows. Support for the Liberal Democrats has increased 2 points, to 11 percent, while the U.K. Independence Party, which campaigns for an exit from the European Union, has seen its support fall by 4 points to 10 percent.
It looks like it is working.0 -
Update - Labour lead now at 15 (You Gov) participants were asked lots of questions about how Osborne is trying to run the economy and how they think he is doing in terms of Plan A for austerity etc. Anyone having a flutter on eastleigh btw? Hope Farage DOES stand for ukip - will make things even more interesting - and lots of free highest profile publicity for ukip!0

Conservatives are at an all-time low in polls since April (29%) They need to be at 40 to even have a whisker of winning. The old saying goes for US election winners 'it's the economy stupid' Do you think it's the same here? Or maybe the NHS as waiting times in A & E have shot back up to 4 hrs due to staff cuts. Either way, Labour's on 14.
Simple. People are fed up with this enforced austerity and the lower standard of living that the government has imposed on most of the population. That's the reason for the Labour lead.0 -
It looks like it is working.
UKIP is a protest party and would never attract more than a few percentages of support in a general election. Remove the EU issue and UKIP is just an empty vessel. The Tories shouldn't feel too comfortable, as the EU referendum will not be enough to get them enough support to win the 2015 general election.0
