    Hi Rising.
Your Spreadsheet looks GREAT! I have no idea how to work it out, but i think everyones is very individual IYSWIM.

just wondering what comes out of your 'Everything else' pot? Is that your emergency pot?

I need a list like that :) Just never get round to it tbh.

Need to add 'write a list' to my list :rotfl:
Can't think of anything smart to put here...

Everything else : It's a bit of a combined one - entertainment (the very odd meal out, movies etc) little things that I shouldn't really buy (the odd Mag etc:o), bits & pieces for the garden (need new table chairs next year) or house (new little appliances like kettle, toaster) etc etc

Emergency pot ... nope - actually don't have that added on there as I don't usually put savings on my budget sheet (just thought I'd add the boiler as it's reg savings ....)

mmm so I need to either a) remove the boiler savings ..... or b) add in the emergency pot - guess that would need added to the "everything else" section

  • OK - have amended and added the Emergency Fund and split out Hols (had forgotten I'd already added this & it's a saving too!)....

    Overall total's creeping up again!

but there is now £840 of savings in there (Hols, Boiler & Emergency Fund) so .....

Ah, i see. So, the left hand column is what you are aiming to have for each, and the right hand column is what you ACTUALLY have for them at the moment, is that right?

Can i ask how you keep them all deperate- do you loads of different bank accounts, or do you do it another way?

I know :j I'm still really chuffed .... I've had it 3 months which is what was worrying me!:)

Should mean I won't need tyres until towards the end of 2014:j as I got just under 20k out the new set on the front of the old car (and should hopefully be similar)

Sort of - this is how it looks in full (only copied across to April but there is a column for each month) ETA it's showing the full amount in "Budgeted Spend incl current month" as we're in December - for the mortgage one, this would read £279.10 for Jan, £558.20 for Feb etc

    There are various worksheets:
Regular payments which is all the usual household / car d/debits but also has things like dentist, clothes, hair etc on
    Dog
    Cats
    Groceries
    Entertainment & anything else

As I spend, I record it on the inidividual worksheet and the totals page updates - it really is fab! :T

    As for accounts, I have:

    • Main account - salary goes in & do transfers to various pots & pay c/card from here
    • Bills account - set amount transferred each month, all d/debits come out of here & not touched for anything else ... ever!
    • Various pots (def a work in progress:o) - these are on the front page http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=57753777&postcount=6 - set amount transferred each month & relevant amount transferred to main account to cover any c/card spends
