I was thinking about how my hamper is being stored in transit too. Surely waitrose must take care that their couriers are aware that items are perishable. Had dispatch email yesterday and tracking number but no link to which courier.

My hamper doesn't have cold perishables in it, but having read some earlier comments on this thread, I just hope it arrives (due today) in one piece.

Some comments say bottles of wine were smashed, leaking out into the rest of the hamper.
  • Hi all,

I am expecting a hamper to be delivered today - tracking e mail was sent Friday and it shows on the tracking site that the parcel was collected Friday. It's a cheese hamper - does anyone know if City Link refrigerate such things?? Perishable items are on their restricted items - saying that they accept no responsibility for the condition of said items - and now I am concerned that my hamper may already have been out of refrigeration since Friday!

I have been trying to call them today to ask but its constantly on hold and driving me nuts

    Thanks
    SM

    Good evening,
Did your hamper arrive, if so, what go condition was it in? I have had dispatch, not able to track yet tho.
    TIA

    Well, mine arrived earlier today.

Everything fine and in good condition, a very nice hamper... even if some of the items are a little smaller than expected (the cake & xmas pudding).

I think they must get the tracking number when it leaves the Waitrose warehouse. Then it mustn't appear on the City Link system until it is scanned into the first depot fro delivery. That's my guess at the delay in the tracking info appearing.
  • Sally,

Yes- well 3 out of 4 have arrived but that's a whole other story!

The cheese one had a small ice pack thing in it - which was pretty much defrosted, but the cheese felt pretty cold to touch and didnt look sweaty or like it had been at any warm temps so I have chucked it in the fridge - it seems ok from the outside at least!

Thanks for the advice from other posters. I've had my despatch email, and have been able to track the hamper on the CityLink site.

Hopefully it will be delivered today!

Need to go to the dentist later, so am hoping it'll be here before that.

Anyone know if they have to be signed for? I've given instructions as to where to leave it if I'm not in, but it's no use if I have to sign for it.

They do need to be signed for (well, mine did). Doubt they will just leave it in a safe place. I gave instruction to leave with a neighbour incase it came when we were out/at work.

I checked my tracking no and it looks like the Luxury Refresher is due for delivery today. Its a surprise present for my parents so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be a nice surprise not a nasty one (warm cheese, smashed wine, etc) :)

I got a despatch email on Sunday evening, kept checking the Citylink site till there was a notice last night saying it had been collected from the depot and due for delivery today. My Luxury Refresher arrived this morning in perfect condition, with the meats and cheeses properly cold and the little ice pack still icy. I am really pleased with the quality, especially for the price we paid - thanks to the op for the heads up on this one.

It wasn't all plain sailing for me as there was a mix up regarding the others we ordered (with non-fresh food), but when they arrived last week they were also in great condition and of great quality :T

Big 'thank you' to the OP!

Got our Luxury Refresher today - arrived about half an hour before I had to leave to go to the dentist.

Absolutely delighted with all the contents. Well packed, great straw hamper that we will definitely reuse.

Bargain at the discounted price, but would never have paid £175 for it!
