  • would have been great to have taken the sun home. sadly it is freezing and have had to put the heating on here.

Trying to get the bathroom finished, we needed a cabinet, but did not like the bathroom ones we saw and the cheapest one was around £70. So we went off to the local junkyard and found an old shelf and cupboard that we paid £35 for. Took it home and painted them with the same red tile paint as we had painted the border tiles and it looks great - also painted an old pine mirror we had the same colour and just waiting for them to dry.

  • got our gas fire sorted so we can heat just the living room rather than the whole house at various times - our last house was very damp so trying to avoid that with this home.

Missed out on some overtime next week as our locum was asked to cover instead of me, so I asked why - one of our bosses thought i was tired and did not want to ask again. He is right - went to my doctors today and have an infection in my tonsil beds so on antibiotics - really should have gone to see about it earlier, as my throat has not been right since the surgery. I will just have to accept my basic pay this month. :(

  • it's blowing a hoolie out there - or is slightly blustery for the benefit of those not familiar with scottish, have a cheap weekend planned - a swim this morning, nip to fish shop and then to supermarket for chicken for peanut chicken with noodles (my kids used to call this neenut poodles, and it is a favourite with us). have a cinema voucher to get used up tomorrow and our new £40 table arrives today:j so we can start to eat as a family.

Got the bathroom to finish - grouting tiles and putting up new shelf and may go buy a bit of cheap lino - it's gonna look good, i think.

Better get up out of bed then:rotfl:

  • sorry for sending the rain south, Laura.

Went to the local town hall this afternoon, we had a cinema showing of About Time, which was ok, and a long walk this morning so quite a cheap day, spent about £20 on tickets and a couple of lattes,

Oh, and phoned British gas to fix our taffif for another year - could have switched, but it is an awful faff, can do it next year instead. at least it will not go up.

  • managed to grab some more overtime this week, although refused for tomorrow as promised to have breakfast with my friend and not letting her down. My social life has been pretty sad recently, we have been so busy with the house and visiting daughter.

Got some roadkill today -£1 :rotfl: it's been lying behind the car park barrier for some weeks now and looked just like a dirty penny sitting there, had occasion to walk past today (in the rain) and finally picked it up to discover it's a whole pound! so can knock that off the total:rotfl:

  • bit more overtime tomorrow, sadly OH has just tempted me into a chinese. back to doctors today and on more antibiotics for my tonsil beds - i think flying to spain a week after op was pushing my luck, think there has been an abscess stuck there since then and now pouring gunk down my throat - yuk. i hate being on antibiotics - usually very healthy and want to be back to normal now

still, at least here in Scotland prescriptions are free :j

Getting tempted by christmas stuff, last year we did it cheaply and none the worse off for it, but this year i fancy splashing out a bit - it's been a stressful year for us all and still have daughter's operation to remove her bone tumour to get done in a few weeks - i reckon we all deserve a treat or two...
