Ah, the days of disposable income! Hehe!

I used to have a gym that came with my old flat, and gyms around me are about £80 a month, so haven't joined. Right, must try and exercise at least one day this week!

  • £80!! blimey, that's dear - we just have the council one, costs £30 for both of us a month. It's very basic, and I would be tempted if there was a fancy gym nearby.

  • paid £100 into the mortgage money pit this morning.

When we were in benidorm we ate out in an american diner place - all pink and blue with juke boxes, etc. It inspired me to think about pink walls with our awful blue kitchen cupboards and found a tin of pink paint on sale at homebase last week for £9 - looks like Happy Days in my kitchen now...although the paint is a great colour, but awful quality and difficult to apply, gonna need a few coats i think. If it looks too tacky then will just paint over it again.

Just need to stay away from the 50s retro dining section on amazon - i don't really need a pink wallphone or neon cola advertising sign, do I? :rotfl: I did treat us to some new dining chairs which look great.

Let us know how the kitchen goes.
Yep - very tempting to have a look at retro diner on eBay and drool over all the items.

Yep - it's pretty expensive around me. Having tried a few clothes on last night which I couldn't even zip up has spurred me on though to really get moving - gym or no gym. First job - make time to have a walk/jog/run at the weekend.

  • Oh dear car MOT time...it failed on a couple of things, but the bill was £450 :eek: It's a really old car, 13 years old, but only has 40,000 mileage so I am keen to keep it until it grows into it's mileage. Guide price for an old car is the same no matter what mileage is on it really, so won't lose value by me running up more miles. It's usually pretty reliable, but i am using it most days and it's starting to clunk at times.

But have not claimed mileage for the past four months and we recently negiotated more per mile so have sent a claim in for £250, and will try to find the rest from somewhere - what a pain cars are.

Did you see my post on KolaKube's diary? Check out a council run MOT centre. You can find out if you have one by checking their website/calling them.

Kitchen update sounds exciting! Blue and pink thats brave but I reckon you could totally pull it off :)

Snap on the car frustration front! Both our cars are teenagers and we plan to hold onto them until they no longer function, in the meantime saving up for newer ones xx

  • thanks guys, It does hurt - the past few years the local garage have been giving OH discounted services in return for cheap driving lessons for their teenagers - sadly there are no kids left to teach and so looks like they are charging us full price again. I guess most businesses are feeling the pinch, it's life.

Got 8p interest on my tiny saving account so into the slush fund with it. At this rate the mortgage won't be a problem for long -:rotfl:

  • got our new oven and hob fitted today. hob was advertised for 99 quid in store a few weeks ago, but when we got to check out tried to charge us over 300 for it - we argued our case and got it for the sale price although turns out it was an error :j Oven was the cheapest we could find and got a bit of countertop cheap cos it had a scratch but doesn't show. A workmate who used to be an electrican wired it in this morning and refused payment (have bought him some beer instead) and dad and OH tiled the back with some cheap tiles we bought in a sale. It looks great now and painted with some paper on one wall - love it :T

And another workmate phoned tonight to offer us 2 crabs and a lobster that her husband had caught and didn't want - so a free meal for us tomorrow night :j
