  • hall is finally scraped and first lot of undercoat on all the dark wood prior to it all being glossed. It's a long boring job, but looks better already. My dad is being a total pain now - keeps thinking up small jobs when we are still trying to get the main stuff done. He is driving me nuts.

off to the farmers market today - i treated us to a lobster - for only £7, made lobster bisque for 2 lunches and lobster, leek and cream pasta for tea. Then made beetroot and chocolate fudge cakes. mmmm:D

  • still working full time and not spending much. Have decided to upcycle some old bar chairs that were left here by painting them with some leftover annie sloan paint and they have turned out well - very shabby chic and no cash spent.

  • last day of working full time - although i did take a couple of hours back yesterday to finish painting the bar chairs. Feeling really tired and still have horrible scar tissue on back of tonsil beds that are a pest and get me down a bit. never mind, going back to see our girl in spain in 3 weeks - will be a better trip than last time.

OH is out tonight so just another cheap meal out of freezer for me. Have been managing not to spend any cash on food this week and just having packed lunches which are boring but cheap. OH Got a wee cheque for his 3rd job and have kept some of it to overpay maybe tomorrow, but will keep some back as not sure of budget this month.

Have to pay £100 to the NMC for the privalage of being a nurse for another year :mad:

  • logged into online banking and rounded up various accounts including the interest on our isa's this year and have overpaid another £299.57. so our new total is £98,884.46. Really pleased with that.

And we still have cash in our house budget so might buy a new table today.

  • didn't get a table as the shop we like is closed for a couple of weeks. we did take our old 70s painted radiators to the scrap merchant and get the grand total of £18 for them, which paid for lunch at farmshop. also emptied the garden and it looks huge now that it is tidy now - thinking about a greenhouse or a potting shed next year - don't know which would be best - any recommendations?

The plan today is to get the hall glossed and then maybe the walls painted.

  • went to supermarket today to get weekly shopping, but disaster - i forgot my purse with my £12 money off coupon  OH had his wallet, but will make a trip back tomorrow and stock up as not losing £12 :rotfl:

Made french onion soup to use up some onions and cheese - yum, then recycled it for gravey for slow cooked chicken for tea. put some veg in with chicken in the slow cooker and now have loads of chicken soup for the freezer.

Still trying to get to grips with the washing machine we inherited with the house. The other day it was churning away for about 3 hours  Think it was a prewash setting so have sorted it now and am trying to educate the 2 men i live with not to touch the settings!

  • oh, it's so cold here - had to resort to putting on the heating last night for a couple of hours. have started painting the hall a lovely calm green colour and hope to get it carpeted at weekend. Also went to supermarket yesterday and stocked up on washing powder, tights for work and stock cubes to use up my voucher.

  • i had ordered a chair to finish off the living room, but was due to be delivered on saturday and the company phoned to say it would be delayed by another 4 weeks. Told them to cancel and am glad as was having 2nd thoughts about the colour. so some cash coming back as a refund and have an old ikea chair in the space which looks ok, might just keep it and wait till i see another in a sale or something.

treated myself to a takeaway coffee today - for £2.30:eek: just as well i don't do that everyday, but was tired and wanted a caffiene kick. did find 3p roadkill in the carpark, so offset that only cost me £2.27:rotfl:

  • finished painting the hall this morning before work this afternoon, now hoping to get it carpeted at weekend. We had bought a rollend of carpet very cheap for our daughter's bedroom, but when it came it was much bigger than we expected and the carpet fitters recommended we try to do the stairs ourselves. My dad and OH will have a go at the weekend, and if it doesn't work out then we might paint the steps as the wood is really good quality.

can't believe it's friday again tomorrow - where do the weeks go? Going out for a drink with workmates after work tomorrow night, should be quite a cheap night and looking forward to socialising again as feel i have done nothing but decorate recently.
