I never understand why hotels etc charge so much... I always think its counter intuitive and more people would buy more if they thought it was good value (and then too drunk to care about the cost!)
Glad it was nice tho :)

I know the hotel were offering a wedding on groupon - all inclusive price which was very good value, i guess that is what my cousin bought. I have never taken my own drink to a function before - think that is taking moneysaving a step too far, but they even charged 25p for ice. It just put everyone in a bad mood, and no one was drinking much, so was not much atomsphere.

The groom's sister had booked a room and asked if she could get in 30 mins early to get her 2 little ones dressed and they wanted an extra £35 for that half hour! They got dressed in the car park instead:rotfl:

OH still not got a contract for his new job he started in May, so is getting paid as a bank worker where he is paid a month behind. So only been paid for 2 weeks work instead of 6. I keep asking him to get his boss to sort it out - how does he expect us to live...I have very little overtime this month and my basic has dropped, so it is going to be tight again next month.

Think it's time to concentrate on some moneysaving done today - i am very good at charting my spends, but not so good as telling where i have saved :o

Washing dried on line - easy as no tumble drier - it broke several months ago and not replaced.;)

Had big breakfast and lunch was a cereal bar i had taken from home - saving me buying overpriced sarnie, and good for SW diet.:D

got an hour overtime today as was out on a late visit and have to cover tomorrow morning as 2 folk double booked to go see Robbie Wiliams, so another 2 hours extra.

Made some lush roasted pepper, tomato and basil soup for tea with leftovers from the fridge :A

Paid the car insurance as a lump sum instead of monthly installments saving £34 over the year.:T

OH got 2 weeks wages today instead of the month we were hoping for , but i had £140 left from my budget after paying car tax and was paid from my 2nd job, so was able to transfer some cash to our savings - another £300, not sure what the balance is as hate logging on now watching that huge mortgage growing daily.

last year tax bill was paid by credit card and is still around £1,200 to pay, going to put our next holiday on it as well but will have to pay it quick before the interest free period ends in nov.

OH birthday today - had his camera weekend which was cancelled due to bad weather still to do, and homemade card from old stock - i used to sell cards in our local museum and still have about 200 in stock which i found and am using up - have sent about 5 this month which saves quite a bit. Also big box of chocolates reduced to £3 in tesco last night, so he is a happy man.

my payday today. transfered another 170 to the savings, but have paid the balance of our next holiday from the savings instead of the credit card - to avoid paying interest.

daughter is spain has had her iphone stolen as her flatmate took home a stranger for the night and he went through her stuff while she was at work - insurance won't pay up as he was invited in, police not interested. The flatmate has given €40 that was also stolen, but doesn't seem to be paying the price of the phone. I have an iphone that i am going to send her and i will get a cheap one just to make calls with - blooming mad at flatmate, but really missing my girl when we can't message each other on the phone.

moving day is 31 sleeps away :j. got a few things planned for july - off to glasgow next week for a gig, night away in hotel. Also a hen night tomorrow night, meal out tonight for OH birthday, and a minor procedure booked 5 days before we move so will be confined to house but thought i would get in over and done with to avoid taking more time off work and means i can get on with packing and cleaning whilst recovering.

Lol at Gallygirl. Really honoured that you are dropping by - you diary was one that I used to read when we had debts and i could only dream of being mortgage free. No, not getting a tattoo. That is not on my bucket list..

Went to visit a work pal yesterday who is undergoing palliative chemo - things are so rough for her, really puts my worries in perspective. Her offspring are the same age as mine and she is a single parent so is trying to protect them even though they are in their 20s. Another workpal died this week leaving 2 teenage girls and again no dad on the scene. It's incredibly sad.

Went home, hugged the kid who is in this country, thought of other kid in Spain and wished I could hug her, fell out with OH who is less than sensitive at times (shouted at me for losing car keys when they were in his pocket after all and then expecting me to laugh - git!) and had a drink with 2 best freinds. Result - bit of a hangover this morning and sense of taking time to enjoy life as it really is too short for some of us.

OH is still in the doghouse however...

Yup, life is too short (have a friend in similar situation) but sometimes keeping OH's in the doghouse is just more important :rotfl:.
