Cash is very tight this month, have had a lot of odd bills to pay and still more to go. Had booked OH in for an expensive photography course for his birthday next week, he has not really got the time to do it, and was worried about paying the balance of the course. However, I was chatting to a freind's neighbour and she mentioned her hubby was looking for a boat engine - well, what did we happen to have in the shed? spare boat engine. Got £300 for it, which paid for the hoover and the camera course. :rotfl:
    What a result :T

Thanks Tilly, it's amazing how cash sometimes comes along when you really need it.

Spent a great afternoon on a very old sailing boat, very vintage - it is older than me. The guy who owns her is retired and sails around the coast for a few weeks at a time. What a great life - was very tempted to buy a boat instead of this new house. :rotfl:

So many dreams and not enough working life left to pay for them all.

Was packing up daughter's room tonight and found a drawer full of unused shower gel, shampoo and make up she has left behind. Some still in orginal packing, is it wrong to put it aside for her christmas as extra? :rotfl: There is even a couple boxes of chocolate that will need to be decluttered before it's sell by date, yum, yum.

i feel sick...just logged onto building society and we have 51k sitting in current account and our new mortgage balance is now totalling... £101,065.43:eek::eek::eek:

Can begin overpaying again in August, even just a small amount and I will feel better then.

Got 4 hours overtime with my 2nd job last night and another 3 hours tomorrow. Need all the spare cash i can make at the moment.

You are both right, the cash has only been in the account since this afternoon and already OH is asking if we can have a night out tomorrow as a treat...this is why we don't have savings. I am going to hide his card so he can't access it.;)

Will have to hide the laura ashley catalogue too in case i get tempted - most of that cash will have to be paid to our solicitor next month. There might be a few pounds left over to buy a few treats. But not horse rugs - i have pals with horses and they are more expensive than children ( and hubby's with car p@rn addiction)

And missives were concluded today so no backing out now from either side (i hope, we did once manage to buy a house from a lady who confessed she didn't own it the day before we moved!, but that's a whole other story)

had a walk round the harbour last night and saw a boat for sale...thought of all the readies in the current account,..and drove home promptly ( driving past our new house on the way to remind us what the cash is really for).

Been looking for car insurance after i got the automatic renewal form through - honestly, do people really not check? after going through most comparision websites, did manage to find cheaper, but without legal cover (whats the point of insurance then?) or voluntary excess of £500 on a car thats only worth 2k. (12 year old convertible with just 50,000 miles - my pride and joy)

Having driven for 24 years every day without an accident that was my fault, i would rather not be insured. Ended up going with last year's company and their quote. Only to be informed that as we are moving in 5 weeks we will have to pay another £25 to change the address on the policy:mad::mad:. OH did get them to half this as "goodwill". i am not feeling full of goodwill!

OH at his camera course all day, he enjoyed yesterday evening and we downloaded some photos late last night of us at a barbeque on the beach, messing about on boats and socialising with freinds. Made me realise that although we are not spending huge sums on entertainment we still have a good quality of life and a nice life balance.

Off to a cousins wedding this evening, gonna dance all night!

thank you Ixia, it was a great wedding, and did dance all night with my cousins, kept us away from the very expensive bar. £6.60 for a vodka and coke  Luckily we had been warned about the hotel prices and had come prepared - quite a few folks were nipping out to our car for a wee top up of booze :rotfl: I think the wedding was one of those deals and don't mind the hotel trying to make a profit, but nearly needed another mortgage just to buy a round. Everyone was complaining, and lots of folk went home early, so a bit counter productive really.

Have started emptying the loft and thinking about a car boot sale before we move. Cannot believe how much stuff we have!
