Well, we have an offer for 2,500 over asking price. Estate agent thinks it is too soon to take it off the market as loads of interest and still has folk wanting to view later this week. The house we like has been sitting empty for months, but they have had an offer today too, which has not been accepted. Maybe someone put in a cheeky amount? We are going for a 2nd viewing tomorrow and see if the sellers will give us an idea of how much they would accept.

OH has an old boat which he never uses, so put it up for sale yesterday, someone was going to come look at it, but not sure when..the extra cash would be very handy right now. This is a very lean month...

were getting pressure from our potential buyers and from the people who are trying to sell the home we want. we went for a 2nd viewing last night, it is smaller than we remember, but still feels right. Needs so much doing to it. We have asked our buyers to increase their offer slightly to avoid us going to a closing date, so should hear back today.

Its weird discussing a few thousand here and there when i am still scratching around claiming pennies on nectar ad points and claiming topcashback! another 100 for the savings today, I really miss making overpayments.

OH is all stressed, i think starting a new job, still seeing to his clients and buying a new house is starting to get to him. Thankfully we are away on holiday next weekend to see our girl in Spain.:T

been a rollercoaster of a week, and sitting here exhausted. Our offer was declined yesterday and then they wanted to go to closing, so we increased our offer, but heard nothing until today. Ours was the highest offer, but the sellers were worried we would not sell that they overlooked our bid, and have decided to go with lower bid. Quite upset that we have missed out to be honest.

But we had loads if interest and so went to closing just an hour afterwards and have accepted an offer that is 5k over asking price. So, we are under offer and almost sold. In other words, this mortgage is going to be paid off.

Not sure what we are going to do next - maybe orginal plan of buying 2 smaller places and putting kids in one, and keeping one for us. we are going away this weekend to see some old pals, so not going to worry about it until monday.

Might not be on this board for much longer though. No point in overpaying mortgage when it goes in July.:rotfl: Although i have a feeling there will be a larger amount to pay off eventually. And still going to keep up with moneysaving.

met with mortgage advisor today, to talk through various options. it's reassuring that we can borrow quite a bit more than we should need. In fact, we can claim our overpayments back and won't really need much extra (although obviously balance will go back to what it was 18 months ago).

Saw another house that we like, slightly more than budget, but very charming. it goes to closing date on friday so have put an offer in for that. Not going to fall in love with it, in case we get disappointed again. Also going to view a small 2 bedroomed flat tomorrow.

OH got a cheque for some training he did, and managed to sell his boat at the weekend. We were away visiting and had some mad money spending - some new clothes, nice meal and a bright red lipstick. Paid a chunk of credit card off, and a small amount extra overpaid - but to savings rather than mortgage.

did half a night shift the other night, finished at 3am instead of 8 which I enjoyed. They don't do those shifts very often, so was glad of the chance. And have another 3 hours overtime on thursday.

didn't get the 2nd house we offered for, it went for 17k over asking price. Had a look at a small flat, but really feels like a bad move, there is another one we are going to look at tomorrow.

Have been in Benidorm for the past week, enjoyed our holiday, and spent heaps - not sure what happens to our budgeting when we go abroad...

oh, and the spending goes on, had to visit the dentist today as have a fractured tooth, he thinks it will be better if it breaks itself, although has done a patch up job for now £127 . If it doesn't break off he mentioned crowns or root canal work which sound very painful both for me and my purse.

Managed to claim £4 from topcashback this weekend. Also have a new nephew born very early last week. He is still in special care, weighs less than 4lb, but off his ventilator and starting to feed. So took my tesco coupons and bought some clothes from their tiny baby range, also some cakes for his very stressed parents.

Have to go and pay estate agent fee for photos and insertion into the house searching site, over £300, Its an expensive business selling houses...

we have a house, saw one on sunday and made an offer on monday, which was accepted. It's not what we planned at all, instead of buying 2 smaller properties and putting kids in one, we have bought a larger house for us all to live in...Son seems quite happy to stay with us for the next few years and we enjoy having him, so why not? OH was getting very stressed when looking at buying down, too many compromises for him to want to do it and he is pleased that we are moving up a step in the ladder again. I think this will be our "forever" house.

But it means another 30k on the mortgage, at least. Was hoping to pay the remaining 52k off in 3 years, so best laid plans gang astray. There is quite a lot we want to do once in the house and then we will get moving in overpaying again.

For now, we have 7 weeks left before move and most of our spare cash is going into savings fund, really miss seeing my balance go down, it is so demoralising when interest is added daily and it goes up every day. But every penny saved is a penny we won't need to borrow.

OH completed his first month at new job, will be good to get a wage coming in from him, instead of dribs and drabs from his own business. My wages went down this month..manager claims she had been overpaying us, long story. Then my pension contribution increased and my tax code has altered too to make allowances for underpaying last year. Did an extra 16 hours last month and only had extra 100 in pay packet.

Hi LauraJo, thanks for dropping by. It is a semi detached, about 40 years old, last decorated in mid 80s i think, judging by the pink carpets and green tiled fireplace - yuk. Also has dado rails and very old built in applicances in kitchen. I think it was an older couple who had retired 25 years and spent a lot of money then, but not done anything to it since.

But has 3 double bedrooms (at moment we have 1 double and 2 singles) a huge kitchen which is blue shaker style (quite like it actually) dining area, and downstairs loo which we dont have at moment. Also larger garden with the rail track at the bottom. We are going to be like the railway children waving at the trains. Also has a lovely sun room. And it is closer to centre of town and the beach, so can walk down instead of taking car, then walking. Also closer to pub:rotfl:
