got trousers for £14 in m&s sale, so that will keep me decent for work. then got some wallpaper for bedroom as it needs tarted up before we think of selling it. Got a curry from sainsbury's for last night tea, but used £14 nectar points so free food! OH did a bit of painting ceilings with some paint in the shed and i batched cooked pea and ham soup and chilli for the freezer.

Today i go hunting for a bed...

OH was offered a 2 day a week contract driving buses, but after a long chat last night he doesn't think it will work as they are not able to specify what days in advance and he wants to keep on his own company in a reduced capacity and needs to book clients well in advance. He is feeling a bit frustrated at his reduced earnings this year and wants the mortgage gone. I think he is apprehensive at the thought of moving, he likes to be settled! I quite enjoy the adventure and bit of stress it gives, but not his favourite thing.

So, we have a new bed, much smaller than our old superking size one, that we loved because OH is over 6 feet tall and the kids could pile in when they were a lot younger. But this one was very cheap and makes the room look much bigger which will be good when we decide to sell. And found a new crack on the wall, so have put up some paper to fool the surveryor! The room looks lovely now.

Does mean there will not be an awful lot of money to overpay however..:(

Had a very stressful day at work on Friday, my managers have asked me to work another 2 hours every friday on top of my 30 hour contract. I don't want to work full time, but that will make my fridays easier, and give me another 8 hours that I don't need to find from my 2nd job ( which I hate). So I think I will accept.

3rd night in a row i have had to do a late visit, so even more overtime, also got my petrol expenses for the past 3 months which has half paid for the new bed and have a roll of wallpaper not used than can go back to shop for refund. Oh, and got 1.50 from topcashback for scan and save. Just remembered my latest holiday did not track, so better go chase that up.

I asked again for a day off in leiu of all the extra hours I worked and again was told no, so sod it, I will take the pay then...

Another £100 off today. On the nationwide statement our redemtion figure had not gone done since jan, never changes from Dec 2023. So I gave them a phone tonight and the guy said if we continue paying what we are paying it should be paid in 8 years and 4 months...so Aug 2021. He was really nice and cheerful (they always are at the thought of me paying them less, strange bunch..) anyway it wasn't till after i wonder if he means the regular overpayments, or the regular overpayments plus the extra overpayments, and now too embarressed to phone back. It doesn't sound right - either too long or to short depending on what it s based on..confused!:o

I will phone again in a couple of months, although they have introduced new pin numbers for internet and I am hopeless with figures over the phone. Still at least it is all going in the right direction..:j

OH and I had a chat last night about the figures that were confusing me and he is so much better with numbers. It is aug 2021 only if we make our regular direct debit. With the rest of the overpayments then we might manage 3 and half years. wow...

Just worked out our daily interest - it is 3.62 a day now, in 2011 we were paying £13.04 a day. Of course, years gone by, we have paid lots more than that - at one point in 1989 our interest rate was about 18%. It was a bit scary then, luckily we were young and daft and didn't ever do budgets  We just kept telling ourselves that by the time we are in our 40s we will be mortgage free and rich...now aged 44 and 45, better get a move on then :A

off work today as feeling yuk! not a nsd as OH got sent out to buy hankies and paracetamol as ended up buying breakfast feast instead. I do have £30 in my purse that I was hoping to put into bank today, but feel too unwell to go.

Had the estate agent round to value the house, and quite fired up to move now. She also has a full time job going as an estate agent - which i have always fancied doing! I do get bit fed up with my own career at times, but been doing it since i was 17, don't know if i am brave enough to switch careers at this time of life. Also wages would be less I guess...anybody know how much an estate agent earns?

looking through some old papers today, trying to find which solicitor has got our title deeds when we came across the mortgage agreement 6 years ago when we moved here. We orginally borrowed £33,000 on interest only and £87,000 repayment in June 2007 to be repaid after 20 years. total £120,000, now the total after 5 years and 10 months is 52,807:j:j

Also found all the sale details of our other 4 homes back to 1987 when we bought a 2 bedroomed flat for £16,225. That price included electric storage heaters that we could never afford to run and which took us 25 years to pay off. If only we had been sensible with money at that age...

was a lovely evening, came home from work and quite fancied a fish supper sitting in the car at the beach, but was good and had soup from the freezer instead. OH just home from work desperate for a chinese, but is making do with a cheap nasty pizza from the freezer too. We are going out on sunday night to new italian place then a concert with freinds, so it is not as though we get no treats. And have a voucher for a free KFC breakfast wrap tomorrow if we get up early enough - we know how to push the boat out!:rotfl:

what on earth is that big yellow thing in the sky? And where has all the snow gone? Weather man says spring is finally here and we may get as warm as 12 degrees here in the frozen north.

I may have to shave my legs...but all that hair was keeping me cozy:rotfl:

been up all night coughing and wheezing. gave up sleeping early this morning and got up to batch make soup with leftover veg. smells lovely.:D

went to view a flat today, very cheap because it needs a lot doing to it. Got a bit carried away with possibilities and phoned the building society to see if we could raise enough equity in our own property to pay for it. However, although it might have worked, they are not willing to lend us as much as we need because OH is self employed and his earning were not great last year. So we would be short by £25k, although advisor could see how much we had been overpaying...

She also valued our house a lot less than we think it's worth, still waiting for estate agent to come back with her figures.

Feeling quite fed up - just can't see a way we can afford either a separate flat for kids or a big enough place for us all. :(Have paid another £100 off today though.

the estate agent came back with better figures than the building society estimate of how much our house is worth, so feel a bit better for that. a house in our street has just gone up for sale this week, so going to wait and see how quick that sells for.

Still can't get hold of brother to discuss mortgages with self employed wages - we keep leaving messages for each other. His last one was "hi still trying to return your call from last week, hope no one is dead 'cos I've missed the funeral". Really should make more effort to keep in touch with him.:rotfl:

have started doing nectar adpoints, and had £3.53 TCB claimed today - take that mortgage!
