my present garden is tiny and i have began growing some veg in containers recently, so looking forward to doing "proper" gardening. We are going for another look tomorrow to measure things, and get a feel for the place, will take my parents who have had a stressful week after seeing their new grandson born so early last week (the wee toot is doing well though).

Payday and just done the money shuffle (sounds like a dance :rotfl:). have £900 in savings that would have paid off a chunk of mortgage, also paid some to credit card as it needs paid off before november. Savings are for some fees, and maybe some new carpets, beds, etc.

went for another look last night, the couple who lived there both died and their son was busy, so he just handed us the keys and let us view it ourselves. Was very strange poking around as it is full of their stuff. But it is nicer even than i remember and our sofa is going to fit well. Really just want to move now.

Got some more points on nectar adpoints, and sent some flowers to sister in law and got some cashback. Then OH gave me £20 from a lesson he did, and found another 20 pound coiins so managed to put £50 into savings pot yesterday.

Have 2 weddings this month and a hen night to organise. We were planning a cocktail lesson, but no one could agree on anything and it was starting to get out of hand with outfits being planned, etc. Finally sat down with another girl and the bride to be who is the least stressed and demanding person ever and booked a meal and then a table at nightclub for 20 of us. She is happy with that, and will keep costs down. She is getting married in Poland, so I think we should be diverting our cash into an amazing present rather than wasting it on novelty !!!!. or strippers. Or buff butlers.

going to wedding this evening of a freinds daughter - how old are we getting! Weddings are so expensive, got a hotel room at half price, but it is 200 miles away so need petrol money, drinking money and paid for a present on her wedding list. £40 for 2 big towels, i think that is very expensive towels, but the only thing left on her list around that price.

There is the annual market in town today and selling tickets for a new year concert that should be popular, £20 each if bought today, or £30 otherwise, so think i will get them as we will be kicking ourselves if we miss out and now that I don't work shifts anymore can guarentee we will be off.

Direct debit for usual mortgage payment and overpayment came off today, new balance is £51,686.78. Must meet up with building society again and work out our new balance,

great wedding, bride all grown up and looked wonderful, had a wee tearful session with her mum, remembering her as a toddler.

Lying in bed in the hotel and just found a coupon for 20% off monsoon in a magazine, happen to know there is a monsoon 5 mins away...mmmm, it's hard to resist.

Also eyeing up a set of glass shelves in the bathroom here, would look fab in my new house...

This is just a spending diary, not a saving one isn't it?

Didn't manage to resist shopping, but picked up a lovely dress with 25%off, so pleased with that. OH got a cheque for some training he did and gave to me to save, but I will keep back some as my car insurance is due at the end of the month.

Should have went food shopping at weekend, but trying to make it last a few more days with freezer stuff. Missing some fresh fruit and veg though and cleaning stuff. Mind you, have not cleaned the house since it sold - not my dirt now :rotfl: Just kidding, it is an elderly lady who is moving in, so am trying to get the garden under control for her.

Off to solicitors today to sign stuff relating to purchase of new house, we have heard rumours about having neighbours from hell next door, and it does look a bit scruffy there with lots of cars parked all over the driveway. It is a bit concerning, but we will keep an open mind.

cannot move forward with purchase as no wage slips from OH new job yet, so mortgage not in place. He started in june on normal bank basis, job has been advertised but not yet interviewed so on a bank contract and no wages till end of this month. His boss has given us a letter confirming what is salary will be and that he will be on a contract soon, so i have a meeting with building society today to see if that will be enough.

We might manage to do it on my wages alone, or my dad has said we could borrow 20k from him, nearly gave me a heart attack! He has never lent or given us money before, and we would never ask. That would be a very last resort and to be honest i would rather lose the house than do that.

Slightly stressed about it all, also new premature nephew is causing stress in family as his mum wants to spend most of the time in hospital with him, understandably, but has 5 kids at home needing babysitters and fed, etc, who the rest of the family are looking after. This could go on for a few weeks yet, but at least he is doing well and gaining weight. now up to 4 lb 4 and in a normal cot at times. :A hoping to get in to see him on saturday as visiting in special nursery very restrictive.

all that stress was for nothing, we don't need to remortgage, we have overpaid £49,000 over the past few years and so can claim all that back :j

Of course, that means our balance will go from 51k to just over 100 again :eek:

I think this diary will be around for quite a few years more...
