I would contact My Hermes through their website, giving the item number before you start taking them to court. I have had to claim a few times in the past when my amazing packaging has been no challenge for Hermes to still break something. It takes them a few days to get back to you but they do eventually. You can't start talking court action when you have only talked to them on Twitter.
You also need to check that the item is not on their list of items they won't carry or won't insure for being carried. Really though, this is not a Hermes problem. All of them including Royal Mail have automated belts and staff that don't have time to carefully place each parcel in a cage.0 -
Hello
I have a TV that needs to be returned to the company that I bought it from.
It is 15kg and dimensions are
W119CM X H78CM X D17CM
I need insurance that covers up to £500 if lost.
What are the best companies? The best quote so far is £29 from the company that I bought it from.
Thanks0 -

It's quite pricey but a large and valuable item like that will not be cheap. They presumably have insurance cover or self-insure - most carriers exclude a wide range of items from their insurance.
Have you just bought this TV or is it faulty? If you bought it on the web or by mail order the seller may be responsible for the cost of return.0 -
Parcels 2 Go - awful customer service
I sent two parcels to Ireland two weeks ago. I have been chasing for a week and it turns out they haven't even collected them. They will not change the service to express (they are Christmas presents) and they will not refund me in full. They cut off my conversation 'chat' when I said their response was unacceptable. Can anyone advise how I go about rectifying their awful mess?0 -

You sent two parcels two weeks ago but have only just discovered they weren't collected by the carrier? Is this a collection issue or a parcel shop issue?0 -
Have used Hermes 4 times but NEVER again! They lost parcel I sent early December. Tried to contract then via their "Live Chat"... Took 20+ minutes to get through to anyone and a further 40 mins to have a brief conversation - felt like person I was speaking to was dealing with multiple others at same time and not concentrating at all. No apology given just told that Hermes consider parcel lost if tracker not updated within last 7 days. I was emailed a link to complete a "lost parcel" claim form. Annoyed, I followed the link but there was no claim form. Tried to reach Hermes Live Chat again but gave up as I was 450+ in the queue!! After searching I found that you can only complete claim form once parcel has been lost for 14 days. I subsequently completed the form. After more than a week I was contacted and told to provide proof of value of contents of my parcel. As it was Christmas presents that I'd been buying over a period of time, I didn't have all my receipts. Hermes said that without proof of value they wouldn't offer ANY compensation. I spent hours searching for old receipts, email invoices etc for main gifts in my parcel. I submitted this information but told my claim had been rejected due to my parcel containing a prohibited item - a lipsil! I searched Hermes prohibited items list but couldn't find mention of lipsil. So emailed back. Got email back apologising that my parcel had been damaged (when in fact it had been lost!) and repeating that lipsil is prohibited. The link Hermes sent takes me to their prohibited items list and unless I'm being really silly, the list does not include lipsil... I contacted Hermes yet again and asked for clarification - Hermes stated that lipsil is prohibited item as its a "semi-liquid"!! Again I've looked this up on their prohibited items list and can't find reference to semi-liquids being prohibited. Strange too as the lip balm is solid at room temperature so surely a solid? So I've currently paid £50+ for gifts + £6.95 postage and Hermes have lost my parcel. I've paid another £40 for replacement gifts (for my godchildren) + £2.85 postage with another carrier. And Hermes are saying they won't reimburse a penny... What can I do!?0

HI
Based in the UK, posting relatively small parcels (below 2kg) within UK and world-wide. So far have been using Royal Mail.
I understand people pay extra for the quickest possible delivery. But what about the other way round? Are there organisations out there that offer 'slower' dispatching services and therefore their offering is offered at a much lower cost than Royal Mail?
I am not particularly bothered how long it takes for the parcels to arrive, as the recipients are made aware that it can take five or 10 working days (or even more) to arrive.
Is the Forum aware whether there are posting/shipping options available when it doesn't matter how long it takes for it to arrive (as long as it arrives).
Many thanks0 -

MyHermes is currently £2.75 for a small parcel up to 2kg so a 10p saving from the over the counter RM prices. Or if you sell in any volume at all look at a RM business account.
Some third party sites offer couriers, like MyHermes a few pence cheaper- but do read all the terms and conditions as often there is no insurance at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi All, Sent over 100 parcels via Hermes and have had only a couple of hiccups , well priced and efficient . Post office is good for sending to Europe. That's it. Bye.0

Strangely enough never had a problem with booking MyHermes (retail end for private customers - apparently there are various subsidiaries within the company-group) which is separate from Hermes which deliver mostly on behalf of bigger retailers.
Parcel Hero's phone support is virtually non-existent and an entire fob-off routine - no matter which options one chooses, one is kept in a waiting routine till being advised that there is no CS rep to take the call!!! Hermes customer / phone support won't accept any inquiries from recipients as their contract partner is Parcel Hero - hence there is no-one available to remedy delivery issues such as the above...
Based on the current experience I would definitely not book through Parcel Hero again  and I still hope the item turns up soon - will update here accordingly.
You booked a cheap service. With that where are the corners cut?
Well phone staff is a good start.
Shall we talk about the service you booked and its due delivery days?
Again this is where corners are cut.0
