Thanks Ifstar.
I've had a look and Marks & Spencer are coming out cheapest for me. They drop my month payments from £63 to £34. When I spoke to Norwich Union they couldn't match this (they had offered £55). But I have another few days before I need to get a new policy so I'll have another shop around and see what I can come up with.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

Just thought I'd pop a note on here as I'm feeling a little down today.
For some reason I just seem to be lacking motivation and it's heading at everything. I've lost loads of weight since last August (just over 4 stone) but for some reason I've only managed to lose 1 pound in that last 6 weeks. Which is really heartbreaking as I want to lose about another 2 stone.
The other problem is this seems to be stretching into money as well. Because I feel down I want to go and buy myself something to cheer me up. Which wont as I'll end up feeling guilty for spending money I don't need to. I'm just wondering if this is a case of trying to do to much at once or whether all money savers go through this? I've only been at it a month and I'm proud of what I've managed.
To be really honest I think I just need to moan as I'm feeling a bit under the weather and depressed. I've left a message for my slimming consultant to call me back and see if he can talk me through that side. The only other this I could come up with was posting here.
This is the first big test I've had since I've started slimming and money saving and I really want to get through it without to anymore damage to either. I'd love any advice if you've got it.

Firstly, good work and discipline on losing the weight that you're wanting to do.
Quite often the things that you often want the most are the hardest to get and the aim becomes a marathon and not a sprint.
Not sure whether you're a physical type but to keep up your efforts and motivation levels why not try swimming or a walk (not near the shops though!).
Do you have a dog, or if you have some time ( an hour) on a morning or weekend (you can go for just one day) try calling your local dog rescue place and become a volunteer dog walker.
Try the Dogs Trust, they are fantastic and are exceptionally grateful for such support:-
http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -
Thanks Hizz.
I'm not particually into excerise, although I am trying. I love walking and my boyfriend is very good and we walk along the canal a lot. My nearest Dog rehoming centre is about 45 min drive away, so not really practical.
I suppose I'm just having one of those moments when everything I want doesn't seem to be getting any nearer. But I should think about the fact I've already lost 4 stone and that I am nearly under the big £10,000 mark and be thankful for what I have achieved already.
I know I need to keep at it, but it's just really hard at the moment and I know I can lose motivation really easily which I'm really scared about so on top of everything else I'm beating myself up over that! I really don't help myself sometimes.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Well I'm feeling much better today.
I finally built up the courage to tell my Mum that I am just over £10,000 in debt  and she took it really well. While she can't help money wise (she just about gets by on her own) She's going to be my moral support and is going to stop me buying the things I think I want.
She said she'd also make sure I cut up my Store cards once I have paid them off. But she's proud that I have decided to do something about it and not let it get any worse. So I feel like it was a good decision and while I am really tired today I slept better knowing that she is on side and going to help as much as she can.
Bless her she even suggested cancelling our sky subscription as I pay half and we are having real trouble with it. So we are going to give them a call and see what they say. If they come out and fix it for free we'll stay if not we are going to leave and that'll be another £7.50 towards my debt each month. Not much but every little helps!!
I've made some more sales on Amazon which has also made me feel better and I'm going to post them out today. Mum and I are going to do a carboot sale to try and raise a bit more cash. But she has set me a target to pay off my Store Card (about £433 ish) and at least half my overdraft by the end of the year. I think that this should be doable and as she knows I don't have much spare cash we are going to try and live cheaper than we are now.
So I am back to feeling positive and hopefully this will keep my motivation up and I pay if all off sooner rather than later.
But like Mum said I have learnt my lesson and I'm never going to do this again. :T
Keep saving xCurrent debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Well, I've just posted 3 parcels for Amazon (Cost £3.05) and as I don't have anything else to come out of my account my overdraft is better than it was, which means I've £50 less to pay off
But I have my car tax due at the end of May. But I discussed this with Mum last night and she has suggested that I only pay for 6 months this time rather than a year to save me some money. I also have my service at the end of June and hopefully this wont cost me to much.
But I get paid on Friday so I'm going to have a couple of NSD's to get me started and then I should have a good month as there aren't any event's that I have to go to. I have a friends birthday but we always agree a spending limit and as I buy of the internet I should be able to get her something nice.
Oh and I checked my bank balance and Orange have refunded me part of my cancelled internet connection :j It's only £7 but I didn't think I'd get anything back:D
But as I'm now one month into my money saving. I have 2 stars to my name :T and I'm feeling much more positive than yesterday. I can see real light at the end of the tunnel and I'm looking forward to paying off and cancelling my first store card next month :j :j :j It's all very exciting.

well done on what you have achieved so far, it is easy to start off all committed and then start to feel a bit of DFW burnout after a while - I've been there! The secret is to pace yourself and to tell yourself that every penny you pay off is reducing that debt, let us know when you have cleared a cc or o/d. Paying off a complete debt is an amazing boost and gets to be very addictive. It's a hard slog but quite a journey.
hugs

Hi Lucy! Haven't read this thread for a while so just been having a catch up. I really love reading your posts as you are always incredibly positive and inspiring - what you have achieved since you started your DFW mission is nothing short of incredible.
Hugest congrats on telling your mum - I bet it was a huge weight off your shoulders, and it is great that you will be doing debt-busting things together, such as the car boot (we are doing one soon and I'm really excited! I love them!)
Anyway honey, please keep posting and keeping us all updated, and well done again xxMFW
