Right I have just go back from lunch.

I've taken £10 out of my account, which will last me until at least Sunday. I wasn't going to, but there you go. I didn't spend all of it so it's not that bad.

But on a plus side my head is feeling much better. I've had some lunch and I feel like I might have got my head in the right place. Back in August I was a dress size 20 and I have just tried on some size 12's and they nearly fit. Everything I have been through has been worth it and I need to stick at it. As much as I would like an overnight fix this isn't going to happen. A bit of hard work isn't going to hurt me.

So I'm going to go to my slimming class in a better attitude and I'm going to suceed. So what if I put on this week... I'll fix it and loads more. By the end of the year I will be a good size 12/10 and I will have paid of more debt and be better off for both.

Thanks to everyone who has helped today. I'll keep you all posted on how I get on and I promise to try and keep motivated for as long as possible.

A big grin is needed today.

This morning I have posted a cheque which will clear the first of my store cards :j :T Once the money has cleared from me account I'm going to ring them and cancel it, then I am going to have the cutting up of the first card. Just a symbolic 'I can beat you' gesture.

    So feeling really good.

I also spoke to my slimming consultant last night and I've had my talking to. I only put on 2 1/2 pounds so it could have been a lot worse. Still I am going to stick with it and it'll all be ok.

But I have been paid today to I have cleared my overdraft again. Hopefully I'll manage to pay a bit more of it off this time. But I am now off to renew my car insurance so I will let you know how much I save with that once it's all done. Hopefully I'm look at about £30 a month :T

    Keep smiling :A

    Hi Lucy,
Like you I'm fairy new to DFW, about two weeks now and yes you definitely do get obsessed with saving money!! I've slowed down a bit but was like a 'headless chicken' at first.
Before you actually change your car insurance or anything else for that matter checkout the cashback sites, if you buy your insurance through them you can also earn cashback. I'm pretty sure I've seen the Post Office on Quidco.com

Just got my car insurance through the post office and through Quidco. So doing good.

I was paying £63.40 a month from Norwich Union (their renewal offer was £55) and the post office are going to charge me a deposit of £73.61 and £32.43 for my first monthly payment then £32.38 for a further 9 months as they are running a month free deal at the moment. :D Which takes my annual cost down to £397.46 from nearly £700.

So needless to say I am feeling very smug at the moment! And so I should be with a yearly saving of around £370!!! That's going to bump up my current annual save a bit.... makes it £660 per year :T

But still addicted to money saving and I would love to get me hands on Mum's bill and get cheaper deals for her. But she has a 'if its not broken don't fix it' approach and would rather leave everything where it is because it's easier!

It's all good and I'm feeling much more positive today. But then saving yourself that much money would make anyone pleased!

    Keep it up everyone :D

It is sooo addictive isn't it?!

I completely understand about the weight loss too. i've been on and off a diet for nearly 10 years now. It's not been that bad recently, but I rejoined SW because I'm fed up of it!! 2.5lbs isn't that bad in the scheme of things - I once managed to put on 7lbs in justover a week and it wasn't when I was pregnant!! I bet if you get back on track you'll have lost that and more in a couple of weeks. Remember, we didn't watch the scales like this when putting it all on - lb here, 2lbs in a month, staying the ssame for another month, 3-4lbs on the next month, so to now look at scales so intently is bound to get us a little depressed! This isn't me talking - nicked directly from my SW mag this month.

You've come such a long way since starting this thread - and just fabulous now you have the support of your mum! Your friend sounds great, and it's wonderful how you got a cheap pressie for her too. I have opened ING direct accounts for all the different pots of money - birthdays, car tax, ins etc and work out how much I need to pay into them to save up the required amount each month.

Plan ahead as well if you can - what other birthdays have you got coming up over the next three months - keep an eye out for bargains for them! I have presents already for Christmas (:o) as well as presents for birthdays coming up. It's the only way I don't go mad on presents as this is one of my downfalls - is it one of yours?
