I've just had a really sweet conversation with my best friend. She is now only one of 2 people who know the extent of my debt, she knows all the little ins and out and is really good about it.
It is her 25 birthday next week and I have been bugging her for ages to let me know what she wants. I'd rather get her something she wants than just anything. She turned round and said that all she wanted was a card as I couldn't afford anything else. But we have agreed I will get her something.
She gave me a few ideas and I have managed a money saving birthday!!!One of the ideas was Grease 2. Shopped around on Money Supermarket... £6.43 later I have the DVD winging it's way from Amazon!! So I have managed to get her something she want without destroying my budget! :T Not that I'm going to tell her, but I feel very proud of myself for shopping around any not just running to the shop and buying the first thing I see.

Check out https://www.petrolprices.com. You can enter your post code and they will email you the 5 cheapest places near your postcode and the prices.
Cheers newlywed for this link. I live in a market town area and all the main shops i.e. Morrisons, Sainsburys, Tesco, Aldi etc., are at least 17 miles away in any direction you choose so this would help me coincide my big shop with cheap petrol. :TDecluttering junk and debt in 2016

Hi
I don't know if many people actually read this, but it is keeping me sane and letting me waffle!
Hello there - I've just come across your thread for the first time and just had to comment when I read the above sentence. Hang on in there and just keep posting. There are a lot of lurkers out there who don't post too often but like me they will be getting massive encouragement regarding their own debt situation. I know I post sometimes and don't always receive a response, but it feels good to contribute from time to time and feel that I may be of some use to somebody (by 'eck - maybe I have issues - am I needy?)
Whilst reading your thread I've used the link for cheap petrol prices and decided that I must look at confused.com for car insurance quotes and I'm gonna raid the bulging CD and bookshelves and get myself an Amazon Account!
There you go - wouldn't have done that without your posts now, would I, so a great big THANK YOU to you and all the other posters! :beer:Decluttering junk and debt in 2016

Thanks Truly!
I think we are all a bit needy!!
I don't help myself much as I'm all teary and emotional at the moment. It's not been a great few days for me although I'm trying to look on the positive side.
But as I think I have a migraine coming this is not easy!! :mad:Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
You sound like you need a big hug! So a huge virtual one from me.
If you have a migraine coming on, can you go to bed or something? My boss gets them occasionally and he suffers on but its obvious he just wants to get into bed and hide under the duvet. Worry about the migraine now and everything else when its gone!Debt Free - done

I'm at work and trying to stick it out. I've taken some migraine tablets which will hopefully stop the worst of it.
I think if I'm honest I just having a tough time. I've suffered badly with depression in the last 4/5 years. I had problems at uni and then split with my fiance 3 months before the wedding. he's one of the reasons I'm here as I was left to pay everything off
So while I have a new boyfriend who is lovely, I've finally faced my debt and seem to be beating it. Oh and I told my Mum all about it. I've lost loads of weight I just feel really low.
I'm struggling with the weight loss which I'm beating myself up over. I'm comfort eating which really isn't good. So I'm struggling to keep my head above water, although I am trying to remain positive.
I keep thinking that my life is sorting itself out finally, Mum knows everything and is great. I'm 4 stone lighter than I was this time last year and these are all things to be really proud of. But that doesn't stop me wanting to cry!!
But thanks for your support I really appreciate it, and find that I can waffle on about anything here

I have my car tax due at the end of May. But I discussed this with Mum last night and she has suggested that I only pay for 6 months this time rather than a year to save me some money. I also have my service at the end of June and hopefully this wont cost me to much.
:A
Have you tried using the Post Office Saving Stamp scheme? Ask at the counter for a saving stamp card and when you get a spare fiver, go and buy a stamp. I do this each week when I go in to pay my rent. There is enough room for 20 stamps (£100) which means I can pay my car tax every six months and it doesn't cripple me like it used to.
Hope this helps.Decluttering junk and debt in 2016
