OS diary, 20th April 07 (it's FRIDAY!!)

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20th April 07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
HOORAY HOORAY IT'S FRIDAY!!
Morning everyone - yes, I am so glad it's Friday, weekends are so much better than weekdays!! Oh hang on, I've still got to go to w*r* today, aw well never mind...
I've been asleep but am having a failing time in keeping asleep. I think it's because I had a majorly awful headache yesterday - was feeling v.sick with it as well - and tried to sleep it off when I got back from w*r*. I slept a bit but didn't quite get rid of the sore head. It's much better now, but I am knackered.
Plans for today...go to w*r* and try not to complain too much:rolleyes:, get car washed on the way home (would do it myself...but have been procrastinating about it for weeks now), do a bit of washing, floor sweeping, cooking and washing up this evening...nothing out of the ordinary, just the normal daily chores.
I hope everyone is well today. Have a fab Friday.

Hi Snowy, Amie and all to follow. It looks like it is going to be another lovely day out there.
Plans today are to work, pick up the kids after, top to toe hoover and dust. Nothing much else today really.
Lo has conjunctivitis and so will have to stay off from pre school and OH will get him in to the GP this morning. It just means that OH will bring him in to work for me before I leave and he will start his later.
I must take some salad nibbles in to work today as this no smoking policy is making toast and real butter   a very attractive proposition by about 10am.
to everyone who needs one today - in particular mrs-mix and anniestar.
I hope everyone who has been poorly is feeling a little better today. I'm glad your head is a little better Snowy.:D
Right I'm off, see you,

Hi Snowy, Hi Amie! Happy Friday to you both and all who follow! (((hugs))) to all OSers who need them and those who don't but would like them.
Snowy - sounds like you've been doing too much - I hope you feel better today; don't forget to take some 'me' time! It's so easy to find yourself doing too much - glad you're glad it's Friday!:j :j
Amie - sounds like you've got a lot of meal-planning to do!
Good luck! I've never had to cook gluten-free before - plenty of vegetarian, though! Have you looked at GinghamRibbon's thread - she has some wonderful recipes and there may be advice and suggestions about gluten-free cooking! :j :j
I still need to look through the rest of yesterday's posts but I was so tired that I went to bed early last night and almost slept through - only woke up twice but didn't take long to go back to sleep then up again at about 5.30 this morning. Can't tell what the weather is going to do yet but yesterday was lovely.
OS - hoover and damp dust upstairs and down, clean bathroom, make Lemon Chicken - yum, yum, to have with baby new pots and asparagus - yum, yum, for dinner followed by the ENGLISH strawberries I found yesterday and yog for pud! Still have tons of paperwork which I must get finished today - I don't want it hanging over me any more especially when more seems to come through the post every day!
Well - off to make OH's cuppa and wake him up! Catch up with you all later! Have a geat morning!:A :A
Just read Smoky's post - good morning to you and great pictures again! I've become quite hooked on photobucket so thanks for the tip!
Also, Mrs mix - I'm so glad you're taking it easy today! Hope you have a great day!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Good morning Snowy, Loraine, Smoky, Pam and all who follow. And Hi Mioliere, just spotted you

It looks as if it will be another beautiful day today, but the winds is comiong in fro mthe east and the gulls have come inland, so we shall see.
Yesterday I arrived home to see 4 fluffy little bottoms sticking up out of the canal. The chicks are learning to dive. Biggest is quite good now and can follow it's parants down for a bit. LCC can just about get her head under the water... bless. I think she is a she because her favorite thing to do is making nests with Mum.
:rotfl: I know, I know, I'm being dreadfully sexist, but...
W**k today, hopefully a quiet day as I'm another who felt rough yesterday and still has a lingering headache this morning.
Then, the weekend :j Need to sort the fridge out tonight, and then there is all that ironing still, oh, and some more washing to do...
Hugs to all who would like one.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Morning Everyone :hello:
Its Friday!!! I'm soooo glad it's friday today, it's been such a long week and I'm soooo looking forward to a lie in tomorrow, I didn't realise it was so hard to get up in a morning after 2 weeks off!!!
Last of the exams today for Yr 8, not looking forward to today cause they'll be really restless and start misbehaving especially this afternoon.
Once w*** done its back home, do some washing, bits in the garden. Then DS has a friend round for tea.
Anyway have a lovely day if your celebrating and hugs to those that want/need them.

Morning all
Hope you feeling better soon SnowyOwl and RacyRed.
Amie, I know what you mean about having to cook separate meals - my OH and DS eat meat and few vegetables and myself and DD are vegy. It's like Ready Steady Cook in my house come 5 o'clock. I think eggs are gluten free - I'm sure it's just grains that contain gluten. Good luck with your meal planning!
Last night was a first for me! I cooked a whole chicken which I've never done before. OH insists that he only likes the white meat so I only ever buy bits of chicken in plastic trays. The one I cooked last night was complete with arms, legs and bones!! I managed to carve it (sort of) and the remains have been cooking overnight in the slow cooker as I'm going to try and make soup (will probably spend the rest of the morning searching the threads for a chicken soup recipe).
Apart from making soup, I'm intending to study today - I have to get my assignement in for Monday and it's not going well. It's a real shame as the question seemed so straightforward 3 weeks ago when I chose which optionto do
Hope everyone has a great day

Morning Guys!
Hope you are all well.
Health hasnt been kind these past few days but do feel a little better today:D Yesterday we stayed in and I slept off and on all day as my body woundnt allow me to do anything else. Oh well;)
All washing is caught up with. DW does need emptying and toilet has been cleaned. Cleaner came yesterday morning and I made my first complaint....but it wasnt as if she didnt do the job though. She steam cleans the cupboard fronts and didnt wipe a few down after with a cloth and there were all streaky...quite bad actually. She called as always to make sure clean was ok and she told me to leave them and she will be down this morning:o ...I feel bad, but I am paying for a service and expect this to be done. She is very professional and we even got a cream egg at Easter:D
Today we are just doing odd jobs around the home. We need to go to Waitrose (I have loads of vouvhers again) and buy some weekend food;) ....have some dear friends coming tomorrow and want to get some nice nibbles. Making HM Spagbol, Ciabatta garlic bread, salad with avacado and fruit salad/cream or lemon tart for pudding. Whilst we are at the shop will see what freezer bargains they have.
Other friends asked the other day if we would be interested in buying half a cow and some lamb from a farm they know in Wales. Think it was 20kg beef for £85 and £40 for half a lamb.....is this good? They are reared on a farm. Friends have bought the beef before and they said it was melt in the mouth and all labelled well. They are a family of 5 and normally go to a posh butchers locally and think nothing of spending £30+ on a Sunday joint:eek:
OH must put my perscriptions in today as Im low on several items and didnt realise as OH did tablets last week.
Anyway, Im gonna say goodbye and hope you all have a lovely day.
Breakie: Bacon Roll
Lunch: Soup & Roll
Dinner: Egg, chips and beans
