Trying not to fall off the DF wagon

I was going to go out on my bike this morning (I keep it here in Mum and Dad's garage) but when i popped home yesterday for all my cycling gear I completely forgot to bring back winter gloves, water bottle etc so now I can't be bothered. The whole point was to be able to just get up and go, if I have to faff about going home first it defeats the object.....I know I'm just procrastinating........
Tasks for today:-
- Pack up all our stuff here
- Unpack at home
- Food shop (amazing how quickly things get back to normal )
- Might list some stuff on eb@y (it really would have been far more beneficial to do this before xmas but I just CBA)
- Think about some news resolutions (that I can stick to :rotfl:)
That's it for now - going to watch The Boy in the Dress with DD.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I have just (rather narcissistically IMO) re-read this diary. I realise now that for most of it I really wasn't feeling at all great. So this year having finally sorted out what my stomach pains were (including an MRI scan that I had last month which came back OK fortunately) for the first time in a couple of years feel optimistic about new year
I also realise that I was much better with my money 2 years agoand I know that's definitely something that makes me feel happier in myself.
So to that end we got home, dumped all our stuff and went straight off to A1di. In the past we would have gone straight out to the salesFood shop came to £30.52 which I was really pleased with especially as it included a chicken, washing powder liquid and some other bits we wouldn't usually get. I will transfer the money over from the food account to cover it.
We're now snuggled on the sofa and having a late lunch - DD is having pie and I have treated myself to a posh soup. I felt quite rough earlier (my sister and nephew have been ill over xmas and I think I might be coming down with it now) Stocked up on paracetamol and ibuprofen and now dosing myself up.
Realised earlier as we were driving past the library that my books are due back today so I used my extremely handy library app to renew them :T Must remember to go back on 17th.......It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Vasseur
Wow has it been that long!?
I don't think it's necessarily narcissistic to re-read diaries, tracking progress is part of what they're for and it's good to be reminded how far we've come.
And it's fantastic that you're properly well now :T
I'll keep an eye on your diary since as you know I also have a milestone due by February payday

I slept in till nearly 9! This is unheard of for me.
It's bright but very cold here. We're off to the south east's largest shopping centre today as I have some M&$ vouchers that i want to spend. I'm hoping that I won't be posting on here later that I've spent all my money. I still am a marketing execs dream.....:oIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Well I did have a bit of a spend but it was all things I wanted ha!
I got a lovely leather handbag from M&$ £69 down to £41 but I used vouchers to pay for it.
I also got a new pair of curtains for my bedroom from J0hn Lewi$ down to £60 (not sure what they were before but they are the largest ready-made size) so £60 is quite good and they are lined.
Also got a sewing box for £15.60 down from £26. I've done loads of mending recently (needs must) and my tiny sewing kit I have here isn't really up to it although it is really well-equipped as my grandma put it together for me years ago and her and my grandad were tailors so all the stuff is really good quality. I now have a really pretty box for it all to go in
Went to Sainsbugs for petrol - £33.77 already accounted for so I will transfer that over from the car account.
Also popped in the store to have a look at their sale bits but didn't see anything we wanted. Still managed to spend just over £40 though!! Got dd some winter boots, some thank-you cards, normal cards and a shoulder of lamb for Friday when we have some friends over for dinner.
Everything written down in my little red cash book.
Have had a banging head all day, feels like the start of a cold - nothing I am taking is touching it.
Have listed 4 things on eb@y finally and already have a bid, not to mention some weird DMs, on a rather unorthodox item. Still, I was expecting it and it's all money at the end of the day. Also listed the old curtains and they have a bid on them already. I only put them on about an hour ago!
Still thinking about my new years resolutions.....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Up early as I am back to work today
Still have banging headache. DD is still asleep bless her, she has had some late nights recently.
I've already checked the bank accounts and updated little red book.
Curtains have 3 watchers and one bid on them and still six days to goIt's reminded me that I have a beautiful pair of curtains in the loft that I had made just before dd was born that don't fit her window in this house. I've never bothered putting them on eb@y because I thought they wouldn't sell well because of postage costs but I might give it a go.
Another weird message about the unorthodox itemAt least there's interest!
Must get moving now....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Not much to report today moneywise.
I have paid DD's Guiding fees for next term - £15.
£7 confirmed from Quidc0 to be paid in the next payment run - no doubt they'll take their fiver off it....
7 watchers on the curtains now and 5 on the unorthodox item :shhh:
Still got headache - this is my punishment for sleeping in yesterdayIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
My headache has finally gone:j Not sleeping in again....
Money saving things I have done today:-
£2 paid by Quidc0 but would have been £7 had they not taken their annual fee. They are annoying me at the moment because there's some cashback I'm due for a purchase made in April that still hasn't paid. I've learnt that this particular retailer is notoriously slow at paying out but despite querying and tweeting about it I don't seem to be getting anything more than a standard response.
So because of this I have rejoined T0p Ca$hback and taken advantage of a couple of the offers. They seem to have much better deals anyway.
I have also ordered our dinner for tomorrow night from P1zza Hut, through T0p Cashback and with a £10 discount from the leaflet put through our door this morning
Not very money saving but I have ordered a steam mop. Now I have wood laminate all through down here and porcelain tiles in the kitchen I need something that's going to dry quickly. The only time i can mop at the moment is last thing at night and because of this i'm reluctant to do it so I don'tCan't believe I am actually excited about this but I am
I got a good deal and the reviews on the one I ordered are really good.
