Hurrah for baking and decorating and :( to barley malt extract. (I am already annoyed with it because it's in bbq crisp flavours and I think I react to it too. )

I am starting to think I have actually got mild coeliacs and not just a wheat/gluten allergy or intolerance. I was never tested for it but my OGD showed my stomach looking 'scalloped' which is a sign. There have been a few things I have eaten recently (by mistake) where I have felt awful afterwards and has taken me days to recover.. Thing is I don't think I could bear to go back onto a 'wheat diet' for any amount of time just to check if it is that or not so I'll just carry on as I am. I went out for lunch on Friday and thought that I'd chosen the right thing (and even got the waitress to check if it was OK) and no sooner had i got back to my desk than i was in agony again for the rest of the night and still feel quite delicate and bloated now. Must be more careful in future but oh I do love my food

Since I was last here I have decorated my bedroom. Twice. In the same weekend! The first time I didn't really like the colour but knew that it always looks awful while i'm decorating but it would probably look better once it was dry. The coverage was great but i just couldn't get on with the colour, a sort of lilac that just looked very 1990s so on the Sunday (knowing that my wardrobes were being delivered the following weekend) and after doing a 30 mile charity bike ride in the morning I dashed home, had a bath, some lunch and then dashed round to bee & queue and bought 2 testers and a large tin of each and just chose one of them and cracked on with it. I didn't start it until about 4pm and i would have finished it that night if I hadn't run out of paint!

Anyway it is done now. The wardrobes arrived and are a lovely soft grey colour, quite unusual but they look great. I have just ordered some curtains - cream with an etched red rose print on - they are from ne*t but they had all sold out but I found some on eb@y for £5 cheaper including delivery. Once I've managed to find some matching bedding it should look very vintage in there which is the look i was after :)

I've finally mown my lawn. DD was at a brownie 100th birthday bash for 3 hours yesterday afternoon so I decided to give it a bash. I was a bit nervous about using the mower as I've never had to do it before but I quite enjoyed it! I had to empty the mower about 7 times the grass was so long! I need to neaten up the edges and I have just been out with some weedkiller. I'm going to get obsessed about getting a lush lawn now and keep comparing mine to other peoples' gardens :D

DD is starting singing lessons tomorrow (free ones) after our next door neighbour came round and said she'd heard her singing and thought she had a lovely voice and offered her some lessons! She gave me her card and she is an Olivier Award winner - best actress in a musical!!

Think that's all our news - off to pick DD up from Brownies now - her last one :( she becomes a girl guide after half term.....

Sorry, I missed your update...just caught up now:p I've not been on as much recently...still attempting to be mse-ish but with both my dds birthdays in May and the car costing £350 for its mot and service it's been expensive recently:o

Lovely to hear your new room is looking lovely:) Mines still a bit of a dumping ground but I can live with that. I still have stuff destined for the attic all round the landing as I only have a couple of boards up there...sometimes I wish there was a man around for rubbish jobs like that!

A bit jealous of your garden..I have no lawn;) But, it's just an easy rectangle of patio and stones, so i can keep it looking tidy easily enough. I have just done loads of tubs so once they get flowering it'll be a lot cheerier out there. I've been loving the sunny weather and sitting out there - there are patio doors off the lounge, much more sociable that the last house where you went thro the kitchen then through a back room to get outside, used to feel really out the way!

Definitely happier living here, hope you are in new house too:beer:
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Yes definitely feeling much happier here. This house is also much easier to live in.

My curtains are up and the room looks like a hotel room! Not a crummy old B&B but a boutique hotel room. Except I still need a lampshade - the bare bulb does rather alter the effect of everything else in there. I'd love a chandelier type fitting but don't think i can afford that but will try for something similar. It will still have to wait until next month. Another thing is none of my bedding matches now so I'll have to get new sets...what a nuisance :rotfl:

I've listed a load of stuff on eb@y tonight. Mainly dd's clothes, brownie uniform, some disney toys so hopefully that will bring a bit of cash in.

Quidc0 paid up £48 cashback from when I took out my home insurance last month so that was a nice little extra.

We have stacks of food in so when I do the food shop this week I should just need the fresh bits so hopefully won't dent the food account too much.

I've paid for the after school club now till the end of term so that's one less thing to do.

It's been peeing down here since Monday so I haven't managed to go out for any runs. I did do a 25 mile bike ride on Sunday as it is now less than 3 weeks till London to Brighton  so I have managed to get some exercise in there.

Actually the one I have been looking at is from N3xt but it is £30 - not much but I anticipate having to buy some new tyres this month as my MOT is due

Food shop came in at £32.70 which I'm a bit annoyed about but we have loads of ingredients to make some lovely dinners.

Tonight we are having salmon with yogurt and harissa from my new gluten free cook book. I just need to buy some limes and coriander.

DD baked some gluten free biscuits last night and this morning so the house smells wonderful. I'm not sure this gluten free lark is going to be too good for my waistline.......at least I have gor some safe stuff that I can nibble on when i'm a bit peckish.

DD is off to drama class in a little while. I'm just going to get some washing out on the line (for a change), change the beds and have a bit of a tidy up.

My hairdresser is coming round at 4.30 - I'm in the mood for a drastic change - my hair is so long now, there is just too much of it. I'd love to have it cut short but I'm just too nervous - I'd like to be able to switch it back by snapping my fingers if I didn't like it. Might just have a look at mid length styles - I fancy something a bit funky :D

If you've already found the lamp you really want probably better to wait a month and get that - no sense buying something you don't like as much :)

I found eating gf settled down after a while, there's a learning curve as you figure out what you need to change and do some experimenting but then you find regular favourites. Having said that a friend just gave me a Waitrose recipe for chocolate praline cake and since I will eat hazelnut and chocolate in just about any combo I may have to make it in the week :)

I have really missed my hair every time I've cut it shorter so at least for now just keeping it long. I keep meaning to learn some new ways to style it though, maybe by a lesson from the hairdresser - might that also be an option for you to try out before a cut? Oh and the other option for seeing what you like - try wigs? There's a specialist hairdresser in our town that sells them and I always meant to go in and find out what I'd look like with drastically different hair :)

I got 6 inches lopped off in the end and it's still past my shoulders but only just. Good tip about the wigs - I will try that next time i have ideas about going a lot shorter.

Food shop came in at £49.57 last night. I will have to up the food budget next month I still have some bits to get from sainsbugs today including my GF stuff so that won't be a cheap shop.

Also had to buy some padlocks from bee & queue this morning as we noticed our back gate was open today. It may just have pinged open because the bolts aren't that good. I also got a padlock for the shed as our lawnmower is in there. And just in case it was someone trying their luck I stacked a couple of unused paving slabs against the gate so if they push it open again they will come crashing onto the path so the noise may deter them from entering further.

I'm off out tonight but shouldn't cost too much. Tomorrow I will do my final training ride before L2B - aiming for 30 miles..

I have been AWOL for over 6 months and boy has my bank account suffered for it!

Have just spent today reading a couple of other DFW diaries and it has inspired me to keep this one up too as well as sort out my finances.

I have majorly overspent this xmas and last week had to borrow from savings to get myself back in the black. I'm annoyed as this was my new bike fund but I have felt a sense of serenity ever since and have watched my bank balance like a hawk and feel much happier about things.

To this end I have sorted out the following:-

    - Money put into car, grocery and emergency 'pots'.
    - Paid DD's school dinners for January and also After School Club fees.
    - 6 months car tax paid.

That will do for now. Nearly everything I bought for xmas I went through Quidc0 for and have about £45 that has tracked.

We got some really nice bits for xmas so are sorted for toiletries and underwear for a while. Got some nice things for the home too so it should curb any ideas i have about spending money in the sales. Just as well as I want to replenish my savings account for my new bike. I figure I can get back to where I was by Feb payday and reckon I will have enough for the new bike by April.

We are at mum and dad's at the mo (dd is asleep on an airbed beside me) and have had a lovely xmas as always. It will be nice to get back to our own house though. I'm pretty certain mum and dad will be relieved too......
