    Happy new year lovely:beer:
I was in bed by midnight, girls had a friend and my niece here so they all stayed up. Lovely to feel bright and breezy today...though I have spent the afternoon in my pjs cleaning windows and the oven...the glamour:)

Here's to moving in January:beer: I get the keys to the house tomorrow and removal men will be here Saturday, exciting! Busy few days coming up....I'm looking forward to this time next week when it's all done;)

    Happy New Year everyone!!

Pixie - hope all goes well for you. I'll be thinking of you on Saturday. It's all so exciting but so much to do - fortunately I thrive on the stress of it when it's something as exciting as moving :D

I've got a few moving related things to sort out today. Need to sort out the building insurance ready for exchange of contracts and a few forms to fill out and take to the solicitors, probably tomorrow. I've got my nephew here today so we are going to go to soft play this morning, have lunch there and this afternoon all 3 of us will take down our decorations - we'll make a game of it :)

This evening we're going to my friend's (whose house I'm buying :)) for dinner so will take some pics and measure up a few things.

Have a great day everyone :)

We have a busy couple of days. My buyers are sending a timber expert round this morning to pull up my carpets and generally make a nuisance because their surveyor picked up a couple of squeaky floorboards.....the house is 110 years old fgs....

I was going to sign all my contracts and take them into town to the solicitors today but think I might leave it until I know the outcome of the timber report.

We need to do a food shop and I also need to get dd some new school shoes. The food shop is accounted for but I have overlooked putting any money by for the shoes...C1arkes outlet it is then :p and the bank account shuffle :rotfl:

Tomorrow we need to go to the library, then dd has tutoring, the a party from 3pm - 6pm then we are off to a roller disco from 8-9.30pm :j I have really missed it (not been since holiday) and this one is in our home town and will be on 2 Saturdays a month for thw whole year :T

    We shall be shattered!

The timber report was fine! The man was so nice considering he was working for my buyers. The squeaky floorboard (which if I'm honest I was a bit worried about but turned out to be fine) had a hole in it when he pulled the carpet back but he said it was OK.

He checked the damp readings at the front of the house and said in places it was coming up with a minimal amount of rising damp but was largely due to meter being so sensitive. He said it wouldn't be anything he would worry about if he was buying, wouldn't affect my buyers' mortgage offer, would only cost £500 to fix and no way should I offer to pay for it. So that was all good.

In light of this I decided that as I was off I would sign everything the solicitor had asked me to sign and drop it all in to her. She went through it all and said 'right I can see if we can get you exchanged today!!' (gulp) I hadn't expected that! Anyway I don't think eveyone is quite ready yet and besides my buyers won't get the timber report for a few days but it means things are moving (!) and we could theoretically exchange in the next week or two.

I've rung up some removal firms and a couple are coming next week to give me a quote.

We popped to the outlet centre yesterday afternoon and I got dd some new school shoes, reduced from £36 to £25 :T and they were lace-ups like she wanted. We spent a little more on a few extra bits so have gone way over my budget but if I am potentially going to be spending in the region of £500 soon on removals it really won't make much of a difference. It will all come out in the wash when we complete.

DD is at a party this afternoon so I have spent the time making notes on everyone I will need to advise that we're moving. There are so many!! Every time I thought I'd got the list together something else popped into my mind. Obviously I had thought of banks, doctors, dentist etc but then things like service agreements and loyalty cards came to mind...oops just thought of opticians...

Tomorrow we are supposed to have yet more rain so I think we'll use the time to have our final clear out and maybe a few trips to the tip. I am determined to be even more organised in our new house :D

I used to keep a spreadsheet of people to tell when I moved... should dig it out as I hope to shift this year!

    Good luck with exchange :)

That's a good idea Rosa - keep us posted on everything.

I bought an A4 notebook yesterday and wrote all the addresses and reference numbers down together with phone numbers and email addresses. When I get back to work this week I will just devise a basic letter and print out about 30 copies,

We exchanged contracts today :j After what IMO had so far been a relatively easy move the last few weeks have been a bit stressy, particularly today. Anyway we move next Friday. I haven't packed a thing yet!

I have been quite busy and since 3.30pm I have booked the removals (boxes being delivered tomorrow morning), put home, life and critical illness insurances on risk, done all my COA letters and set-up the RM redirection service. I've just got the water, mobile and v1rgin tv and bb to sort out tomorrow. I'm feeling very efficient and it has been nice to be able to get things sorted at long last. I'm so glad I prepared all the COA in advance - it's certainly helped.

Must go to bed now. Early rise tomorrow. Can't wait to start packing :D

We have been in our new house 2 weeks now and have really settled in. It all looks very homely and I absolutely love it here. I have spent all the money that was left over :o but the bulk of that was on a new sofa and armchair that should be delivered in about a months time. I also bought a bureau (only £199 bargain!) and various other bits.

I still need to get up in the loft (should be easy as there is a proper ladder just haven't had time yet) and put the loft stuff away and my room needs sorting too as I have virtually no storage but the walls need replastering and redecorating before I can buy furniture. I've had a good time planning my colour scheme though.

Must go now as dd wants the laptap for some 11+ studying.....

It has been alternately lashing it down then beaming with sunshine here today. It was really rough last night and I was quite worried about a 30ft conifer that's at the end of the garden and although it looks a little unkempt it's still upright. I haven't noticed any other signs of damage, no fence panels down or roof tiles off so that's all good.

DD has a friend round this afternoon and we are all going roller skating this evening. I have changed the beds, hoovered all through and dusted and polished. All the washing has been done. If it wasn't so wet outside it would be a brilliant drying day  consequently everything is drying indoors but doesn't feel so bad now we have extra space. At the moment housework in the new house doesn't feel like such a chore :) I've been up in the loft finally and have put all the stuff that was making my room feel so cluttered up there. At least it feels tidier in there now.

Food shop came to £43.64 this week which wasn't too bad and we are quite well stocked up.

Now I've bought all the new bits for my house I really need to start keeping an eye on the pennies so will make the BHF shop my first stop for looking for new bedroom furniture as you can get some absolute gems in there. If not I'll be saving hard :D

  • Glad to hear you are loving the new house and are all settled in:beer:

I've had a manky cold bug for the last 3 weeks....and the crohns meds that I take suppress my immune system so it's really not shifting...so not much has been done in our house:o I've just about been managing to go to work and feed the girls...nothing more!

Still, it's half term now, girls have just gone to their dads til Monday so I must get the place cleaned up and properly sorted. I do need to buy bits but not sure what....we have no outdoor storage and my bro in law just plonked a few loft boards up there, but they're not secured so daren't go up and stand on them. So I still have attic stuff to go up, arghhh!

Still, better here than where we were before so will stop moaning:D
