Hey Poles , good to see you !
But , more than that - your food shop was how much ???!!! I know I have 2 strapping boys , but , even so - I must be doing something wrong .....

Thanks Coco! It's all down to shopping at A1di and already having a few meals in the freezer (bulk cooked weeks ago of course...) So not that great a feat ;) but it all helps.

  • Hi poles:)
I've been wondering how you were getting on;)
Excellent news with the new house....how very exciting! How quick things have happened:D Is the new house nearby?

I keep looking for another house to rent...in the village where I work and where we were until last summer, but nothing suitable right now. I shall be patient, the perfect house will appear (maybe!):D

Still doing well with your grocery shopping too then....I've been lucky in the sainsbo's keep giving me a till spit every week with £6 off a £40 spend...though next weeks is £7.50 off £50:beer: I have a freezer with quite a bit of meat in so trying to just buy essentials...though I'm good at adding in extras:o

    Keep updating!
I really need to sort out a new signature!

I do like sainsbugs but even I couldn't do our week's food shop for less than forty quid. Ours is massive and they sell such nice bits for the home, I'm always so tempted :o It's best for me and my bank balance to go to a no frills supermarket.

I'm sure the right place will come up soon - maybe in the new year perhaps? Our new place is only a couple of streets away. It's a nicer road, still 2 bedrooms, but has a huge upstairs bathroom, a hallway (!), a beautiful kitchen and a proper garden with lawn and patio. My friend has impeccable taste so everything has been nicely decorated. It definitely feels like a step up :)

Busy day at work as we were a man down due to sickness bug. I also had to nip home to see some workmen that I needed to look at my leaking bathroom roof. I know I've sold the place but ever since I had the bathroom skylight replaced (I managed to smash the last one) the bathroom ceiling has leaked (although not through the window). It seemed too much of a coincidence that ever since the window repairmen had been it's been leaking so I got them back.

However, it looks like the render down the side of the window is really cracked and that's how the rain is getting in. They said I just needed to get someone to fill it in with cement. I said I would find someone to do that or attempt it myself (ha!) but when I got back to work the window repairman had text me to say that if I couldn't find anyone to do the work then he would do it. I may take him up on that.

I've also sorted out an appointment with a mortgage advisor for Thursday evening. He reckons he should be able to find me a pretty good deal on my salary. I will definitely have less disposable income after moving - I think my mortgage payments will be higher - but I'm no stranger to scrimping and it's not like I will be penniless.

And after all that a NSD too :)

Definitely not a NSD today. I had to pay £275 to the solicitor handling my move. Not good with over a week to go till payday  I have had to call in some debts and together with the maintenance that should be paid next week I should just about scrape through in credit.

I have a few bids on my e-bay bits and quite a few watchers on stuff that hasn't had any bids yet so that will all be extra money.

I think since my mortgage payments came down last year, coinciding with me becoming debt free, I have had a rather blase attitude to money. I haven't been silly but I think I have taken my eye off the ball a bit and because I've had so much more disposable income I haven't needed to worry about it so much. All that will change now though and I think that can only be a good thing.

I am watching Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners - I think some of the OCD people have more problems than the filthy people they go to help!

I've had a busy few days. I saw the mortgage advisor and there doesn't seem to be too much of a problem getting enough money to buy the new house. I am porting my current mortgage because I am on the ludicrously low rate of 1.45% and as the MA doesn't think the interest rate will go up for another 2 years it makes sense to keep hold of it. The extra I need to borrow (approx £36k which takes into account all fees and a little bit extra for some new furniture) I will fix at 2.69% for 2 years and then review the whole lot in 2015.

I filled out all the solicitor forms last night and delivered them by hand to the office this morning. DD and I had a mooch around town and I tried on a lovely Julian McDonald dress in Debenh@ms. It's a dark bright blue and the 8 looked fab but I thought was a little tight, they didn't have a 10 so I tried the 12 on and it swamped me! The 10 wasn't in stock so I have ordered one and with 25% off it was £33.75. If it looks OK then that's my xmas party dress sorted.

DD had her tutor today so while she was there I had a quick tidy up and hoovered right through. After tutoring dd had a party to go to so I went and visited my friend whose dd is my god daughter and took her a birthday present because she is 11 tomorrow.

I've just dyed my hair because it really needed it. It is getting so long now and is past my bra-strap! I do like it though. I trim the fringe myself but the back I haven't had cut since new year - hence why it's so long.

I have a lot of ebay items finishing tonight and tomorrow. I have sold 3 things now, not for a great deal of money but it can all go in the pot.

Despite our busy day I am now really bored. In fact I am bored most evenings now. I think I am getting fed up with having no one here to talk to once dd has gone to bed. I will probably just dry my hair and go to bed myself in a little while :(

Or maybe I will look on M&Ss website for new furniture.............

Yes, that is a problem when you live on your own. There's banter on here, but it's not as good as person-to-person stuff.

I went for a bike ride this morning - 22 miles - the first I've done for about 3 weeks. It was really good but I've felt really tired this afternoon and have had a banging headache ever since and it still hasn't gone :(

We have had a NSD though. We stayed in this afternoon and played monopoly (which I won :D) and we had roast chicken and all the trimmings for our lunch.

A load more ebay bits finished today so I have parcelled up those that have paid and relisted the ones that didn't sell. I also got in touch with an ebay seller who i bought a DVD off a few weeks ago - when i watched it it jumped and skipped about 5 minutes. He has refunded me and said not to worry about returning it which was good of him so I have left him some decent feedback. I am starting to get the ebay bug again so will trawl through the house again this week for more bits to list - might as well if we are going to have a clearout before moving anyway.

I need to update my little red book with yesterday's spends though. I'm ashamed to say I haven't done any xmas shopping yet. Actually waiting till payday when I will have money has totally gone out the window what with all the money I've paid out with regards to moving (and xmas party frocks ;))so I might make a start this week and and not worry out the bank account deficit, knowing that when i complete on the house I'll have some money back from the solicitor anyway. Don't want to go too mad though because that would be eating into my shiny new furniture fund :D

Hi - just popped in the say hello after your encouraging comment re: my PT session.

I wonder if your headache might have been caused by de-hydration? when OH and I used to do a lot of fell walking for our holidays I always used to get a bad headache, at some point I read about hydration and it turned out that when we started out earlyish in the morning I was not having enough to drink beforehand, started taking more fluid before going out and it cured the problem (created another one, as I was always having to look for secluded rocks to hide my comfort breaks:rotfl:)
