Still no chromeb00k. Rang up PC W0rld who said they were out of stock when I ordered it - apparently the computer system for a computer store is not sophisticated enough to register when they have run out of stock .

:rotfl: boolarks... they just want your money and assume they can get away with keeping you waiting. I've heard several things like this now and am beginning to suspect that a lot of shops are keeping their stocks low, maybe because of the recession. Which is unhelpful enough in the normal run of things but when one store messed about a friend of mine who is disabled and had reshuffled medical appointments and basically made herself ill moving things in time for the delivery - and they cancelled on the day for something that had been on order over a fortnight... I offered to go round and shout at them myself. She emailed the CEO and that got it sorted :D

I was thinking this too. I was also wondering if they are going the same way as C0met. I'm going near the actual store on sunday so might see what joy I will have in there - probably none but got nothing to lose. If it hasn't arrived by this time next week I'm going to start rattling some cages.

  • Is PCWhirled related to other chains? I've a feeling they used to have the same offers as something else, but can't think which.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did go as would think they have a hard time competing with online and the less specialist chains.

If you aren't happy with responses in a couple of days you might want to get your money back rather than worry about not getting your goods. Hope it doesn't come to that for you though.

DD had a lovely birthday party but by the time everyone had gone she was really flagging. She had such a bad cough and was sneezing and so croaky. I had a banging headache by this time too so we snuggled up on the sofa and just had crumpets for our tea (because I didn't feel like cooking) and watched rubbish TV for a couple of hours. Fortunately she had a really good night's sleep and felt much better for her actual birthday yesterday.

We went shopping with my mum for a present (she chose 2 pairs of skinny jeans and a cardigan) and then we came home had lunch and went roller skating. We stopped off at the carvery on the way home so I didn't have to cook (for the 3rd night in a row).

DD loves her kindle and I just need to get her set up on it properly and put all the parental locks in place - I can't have her ordering stuff willy nilly.

Spends at the weekend - £6.50 roller skating, £20 carvery, £2.60 greengrocers.

We picked up our glasses. DD looks really sweet in hers and likes wearing them. I love my funky new red ones :)

Today has been busy again at work but I managed to get out for a run at lunchtime. It was lovely and warm in the sunshine but really cold in the wind!

I've claimed back my £25 eye test charge so hoping that will go into my account in the next week or two. I also got an email from the After School Club and they want paying for next term's fees by 17 February. Grrr...this is so annoying because I don't get paid till 22nd . I will have to shuffle a bit of money around and see if I can manage it on time. I've got £65 put by already and I have a figure of about £117 in my head in total. Maybe I can shave a bit of money from the food account.

Perhaps I'll be lucky 2 months in a row and the CSA will pay me early :rotfl:. I'm the eternal optimist.

    Still no chromeb00k..................

This is what I have done now. I was in such a huff about it that i just ordered one from amaz0n as they are now the same price as pc w0rld. It is being delivered tomorrow :T but when I went to cancel it wirth pc w0rld they couldn't do it because it's now with the r0yal mai1. It still hasn't been delivered. I g00gled 'pc w0rld complaints' and one of the first websites that comes up (if not the first) is a site dedicated solely to gripes about pc w0rld. I certainly won't be using them again. Their customer service is shocking, the delivery rate is shoddy and when you go to cancel an item they can't even do that. To rub salt into the wound I got an email about half an hour later from them 'welcoming me to pc w0rld'. Really ???

Anyhow when theirs does finally arrive i will be personally taking it back to the shop to ensure I get my refund - I'm not mucking about with the post.

Financial things I must sort out this weekend :D

I've given myself a few months of enjoying my new found wealth and debt-freedomness and after splashing out on a few treats I must really knuckle down and start making the extra money work for me. So I will:-

Call up mortgage company and get details about overpaying the mortgage. Ideally I want to do about £100 a month (I would still be paying less than I was this time last year on my old rate) and I'd like payment details so I can make any extra on top of this, similar to PADding that I did when paying off the CC.

I also want to sort out a savings account just so that there is some money building up for whatever may crop up. Again I'd like to do about £100 a month but I'd like to open it at a bank that I have no connection with at the moment. I need somewhere where it's hard for me to get my hands on it. Need to research this a bit.

Sort out dd's CTF. I was thinking of doing £10 a month here which isn't a lot but it's better than the £0 a month I've been doing for the past 9 years :rotfl:

Sort out a regular savings account for dd. Again £10 a month and she can open it with whatever is in her money box at the moment - that way she won't go spending it on tat from cla1re's.....

Non-financial things I must sort this weekend

    Take library books back
Give kitchen a dam good clean (overdue)
Get eyebrows threaded (also long overdue)

I'm sure there's more than this but it will do for now.

Now I must sort out dd's kindle.......
