Jakes-mum, know it's a faff, but are you able to buy lots of "free-from" type products and make your own cereals etc?
Also, I remember a few years ago when I was having some food issues reading a really good book called "Foods that Harm, Foods that Heal"; think it came from Reader's Digest. Had some good ideas in it; maybe a bit dated now with all the advances in allergy foods, but might be worth seeing if your local library could get hold of a copy for you to look at?
You seem to be allergic to lots of things, what can you manage? Do you have to live on veg and fruit to keep discomfort at bay or is that a non-starter too? You poor thing; it must be difficult.

potted 27p yesterday and managed £3.30 from DH's bedside cabinet (he left it when he went to work this morning!!). spent a horrible couple of hours trying to create an apple id for DS1's ipod touch, trying not to sync with mine and feeling very old as I struggle .... In a fit of the grumps I've decided to pot the £10 I found in the middle of my handbag today instead of using it for a family meal out tomorrow. My gain anyway...
so overall potting for the last 2 days £13.57:Tsealed pot member 100. Saving for a dream holiday for 6!!

Im a mum of a coeliac :rotfl:, my house is full of fre from food. This is what annoys me, ive been tested umpteen times for coeliacs and even had scopes both ways and I definitely dont have a gluten problem, but pasta and bread cause me so many problems
. I do have alot of IBS problems on my dads side and both my sisters have alot of food allergies as well, so I think it all comes from there. Alot of fruits and veg also cause me problems, only veg I can eat is parsnip and fruit is basically orange juice and strawberries. My poor mum when she has all 3 of us and DS for dinner pulls her hair out, no nuts, no gluten, no onion, no peppers, no strawberries, no leeks, no chocolate . . . :rotfl:

Hi mishmogs, good for you in keeping chipper and sorting your CV out, no doubt the ideal job's ready and waiting for you. You do make me laugh with that German student.
BTW, gold stars are earned either by acts of kindness to fellow members or in giving lovely welcomes to new members etc, the type of things most folk do naturally...though the welcomes have to be pretty special!Actually, mishmogs, thinking about it, you've put some nice things on in the past so I think you've already earned your 1st! Here, take care of this one :staradmin

Oh jakes-mum, I really feel for you and yours! I lived with my food issues for years, with all sorts of (sometimes unpleasant) testing and all for nowt. When I had DS nearly 11 years ago it kicked off again majorly, and it was found I had gallstones of all things, doc said that was what it must have been since age 20 but they'd never have thought to test someone so young for that!! Mind you, I still have very little pasta and bread cos it's uncomfortable to digest... Dumb question, but any of you (apart from coeliac DS) ever get tested for gallstones along with everything else?
You'd think with the increasing prevalence and also awareness of food allergies and intolerances there would be something that could be done to help. I do hope that things will improve for you all.
Your poor mum must be grey with all the worry of it when you descend for lunch! On a (flippantly) upbeat note, no chocolate must mean you're lovely and slim!!
Stay positive and happy... I will be forgiving of any future sulks lol!!SPC No. 104 (oh no I've lost my magic 2000!)

Jakes-Mum...sorry to hear of all the troubles you are having with food....But something jumped out at me while I was reading - You say you can have Orange Juice and Strawberries...what about a Smoothie for Breakfast? They are very yummy and you can experiment with different fruits if you can have any other's....I used to have a Smoothie for Breakfast every day until I got lazy... :rotfl: But maybe give it a go?
Sue....I might try that holding pot idea thing....I actually get paid Weekly plus my Working Tax Credits Weekly so I'm very lucky really....but it might be worth using the Holding Pot thing....I'll have a think....
Nothing to Report....am being overly-cautious with my Money at the moment because I don't want to take it back out of the Pot....I've broken into it twice now and don't want to do it again!! So I'll just be careful what I put in....and save slowly....Slow and Steady wins the race!!
And Welcome to all our new Members...do feel free to Join in....It's a VERY friendly Thread here...0 -
