  • I'd like to join please x

Hi A Fresh Start I just noticed your post. Of course you can join us :) Our trusty leader Sue-uu will be along later to welcome you and give you your very own SPC member number which is yours for life (whether you like it or not! :rotfl:) You can then pop it on your signature where it can be polished and displayed proudly :D All that is asked of you is that you read post #1 carefully so that you know what we are about, then pop in now and again to talk to us 'cos we all love[STRIKE] a gossip[/STRIKE] to hear all the news. Most of all enjoy saving and the motivation on this thread. They are a lovely bunch
Sue will talk to you soon. She's probably gone to bed with a headache she got from spending 2 whole days and more on here after pot opening day. Poor sparky our counter upper has probably done the same dreaming of £ signs and spreadsheets

    Enjoy! x

As a couple of people mentioned pocket money I thought I'd add my two pence worth...feel free to pot it lol!! :p

We give our DD (8 and 3/4) £1.50 pocket money a week. She doesn't have to 'do' jobs to earn it BUT she has her pocket money given to her on the basis that she is old enough to be responsible and work as part of our family team to keep the house tidy and look after her own things....that's still a work in progress!! ;) As the amount of pocket money stays the same each week, we hope that eventually it will help her to learn how to budget. It's never to early to teach good habits!! :D

I have to say that although DH and I are terrible savers, although excellent spenders!! :D:o I have unconsciously been trying to teach DD how to save and spend wisely.

    This is her money box...how cute...easy as 1, 2, 3!!

    photocopy.jpg

A is for giving (we think it's important she learns the value of giving as well as enjoying saving and spending her money).

    B is for saving and

    C is for spending.

She also has a money box she uses for her coppers. I have to say she is already much better than me. If she takes money out of her spending box and puts it in her purse when she comes back home she doesn't just put the money back in to the spending section. Often she puts it in the savings and givings box and then a little bit back in the spending box!! She does NOT get that from her mother!!:T:happyhear

I think I'll get her in on the act with the SPC6 and see how much she can save in her copper money box. :)

You're most welcome to join us, A Fresh Start! It's lovely to have you with us. biggrin.gif Have fun saving. You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 5 of page 1. Please read through post 1as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge.
    * Please pop your number on your sig, it helps a lot.

Never have shame in picking up, roadkill, Determined diva, especially where £2 coins are concerned! Brilliant work.

Good to hear you've raring to go, ruby_eskimo, keep motivated.

Try not to get too concerned, little_sweetie, no doubt it's the bank being very officious and having to tell you that to cover their backs. Your dear F-i-L has tirned up trumps tis weekend...that's a £10er towards next summer I guess! :D I reckon you've earned another gold star with that perfect welcome. :staradmin

A lovely sum, redmel! The number of people who clean through the car is amazing, though most of them find a good deal.

You can't have my shiney £2ers, catwoman, the banks keeping them - isn't that right! Thanks for popping you No on :)

    Afternoon Sue
Road change has been a bit scarce lately, dark afternoons don't helpn though. I'll be on the hunt during daylight hours though.

Still waiting for a flurry of totals to be posted on SPC5!

How's the water level at your end of the country?

Take care hun, catch you later X

Afternoon sparky. Change is getting very scarce here too, maybe people are watching the pennies a bit better now, a shame though as we were all doing such a good job of that. :( Ah, I forgot about dark mornings and evenings, it makes a huge difference.

I'm positive people are slower declaring this year than before, though maybe they're too wrapped up in Christmas, so to speak. :D

There are still a lot of floods here, the river about 1/2 mile away covered most of the fields for 5 or 6 days, but it's receded a lot now. The Levels i a whole different story, with folk still marooned. Farmers, boat folk etc helped out really well though and took each (by boat) to Langport to get their shopping. Aren't folk great in crisis. They didn't need to fish you & J from the Mersey then? ;)

Just been with T and elder off-spring and her family up the hills and woodland, beautiful, but sooo slidey in the thick mud! :( Kiddies had a great time, dogs too!

You both take care too. Here, I've gone way off topic, best shut up!!

Isn't that a case of don't do as I do, do as I tell you, mossy! :rotfl:I certainly agree with the giving too, it teaches them about give and take.

Jackies - that's terrible! Terribly good!! Well, he'd only have wasted it!! :rotfl:

So there you are skilly, I had a feeling you'd be back. Fantastic work, you too stopped him wasting it!! :grinheart

I'm sure you're right about the bank and you certainly do know where my savings will be going next Summer! :D Glad you enjoyed your lovely (muddy) walk today. Please say 'hi' to the family for me.

mossy, you do seem to have a lovely daughter and she certainly has the right idea. She could teach many an adult how to budget and at such a tender age too :) I LOVE the money box!

Sue Ha ha, ermm (hiding sheepishly) something like that!! :o I am getting better though, so now it's, let's have fun doing this (i.e. saving) together!! ;)

Little_sweetie Yes she is lovely (in an occasionally high maintenance kind of way...and yes she DOES get that from me lol)!! :D The money box is soooo cool isn't it!! It only cost me a fiver as well...it was of course on offer! :money:

Thrifty Lee Welcome from one newbie to another, they're extremely friendly folk around here! Although some of them seem to steal their other halves spare change a lot!! :rotfl: :D :A

Ooo Thrifty Lee just realised that you are a properly new newbie, welcome to the world of MSE!! :hello: If you have any questions just ask and someone will be able to help you or point you in the right direction. :money:

Hi Everyone....Can I join in this Challenge please? I've already added it to my Sig so please don't turn me down :D

I was already saving my extra pennies so I'm starting this Challenge with exactly £8 in my HUGE Plastic Budweiser Bottle...And I don't have a Target as such but I'd like enough to pay for Christmas next Year...that would be great as I usually have to borrow Money for Christmas...

    Thanks very much....
