£3.32 added to the pot this morning.

OK so supposedly women's insurance went up by about £300 in December, I'm sure you all know this. However, yesterday I got a quote on a comparison site for new insurance as a guide to see how much i would need to save roughly for April. My quote was for just over £700 a year (cheapest) which is £500 less than i paid last year....... If this is correct, that's a huge weight off my shoulders. Luckily, I pay yearly as that £700 turns into £1,210 when paid monthly...

Come April I also have to tax and MOT my car and it needs a full service :( The joys of owning a car...

Anyway, enough of that. Hello new potters welcome to the thread :)

I hate spending money on my car, I couldn't afford to get it serviced last September and I've been worrying about it ever since! Also have to get tax by the end of jan but I'm only getting 6 months this time because I always struggle to pay in in January! The I can go back to paying yearly at a more convenient less expensive time of year!

Just popping in to pot a £2 coin and two 5ps, I managed to buy a second hand book and a reduced calendar in the national trust shops at a garden near us for a total of £2.25! Bit of a bargain!

My tax is only £30 a year WOOHOO! lol. But don't worry too much about your service. Just get it looked at when you can. Plenty of people do their own service and half of them can't so that good a job.

Ahhh, bless you, mumof3plusoh, do I sound frazzled. Whatever, thanks so much, you're a real :A!

Hi Helen, that was a wonderful post to summertea last night (early this morning), but I didn't even see it until after I'd posted as I'd had laptop problems again on the previous page.

So, if that's right then, Ruth. it looks as though driving could be more fair for women that is has been, though a lot depends on the age of car, how long you've been driving etc. This last year may have seen your age come into a better bracket for you. B]Edit[/B Just seen that that's not the case. Ah well can't be so bad whatever eh! Keep saving as hard as possible, Ruth, and keep canny! ;)

    A fantastic amount eh, b_e_g! :T

    Here's being hopeful, Pmo2!

Ooh, it's a bit addictive isn't it. Have just been given a 2 pound coin in my change and it's gone straight in the pot! When I sealed the pot up last night my daughter asked me what I was doing. Once I'd explained she put in £5 from her piggy bank, bless.

Oh, that was brilliant, Barbeduk, bless her indeed! :A You're right though, it's very addictive, but in the very best way possible!

Marvellous saving in every which way, mishmogs!! :j
Been told by mother that i can clear the loft out in the old house for the new renters to come in and put it all on Ebay once she's looked through it all (She's still got art work and things nan gave to her when she died up there) and i can have half of what i get for everything!! :D

Is that allowed in the pot?
Well earned money towards my first ever trip to France? :D

Yes, that's fine, HMS.....so long as I get to go to France too! DH & I loved it when we went there in 2009. You'll benefit hugely by learning as much lingo as possible. BTW, buying stamps these days is a little too much like mugging to my mind!! Rogues!

Lovely to see you back safely, Susanne, and a very Happy New Year to you too.

Great news on the 1p, Paddles! That's one that sparky didn't get!!! :j

My insurance went down this year as well (from about £500 to about £300). I wonder whether I am in a different age bracket now...

I'm sure you're quite probably right with your thoughts, RedGoose, also no claims bonus plays a massive part. Lovely to hear of deductions rather then bloomin rises! :D

Well saved, LunaLady. You're doing very well.

Clanger84, I look forward to seeing how much you've saved! Though you do realise you don't need to put in on your siggy right? If you wish to then go ahead.

You're ok, ms_night_ryder, we just carry on automatically and no one ever has to re-join.
Wonderful saving, everyone, keep hard at it.
