Ryanair - 20 years of hassle free flights

It IS basic in the extreme, but I've flown with them a lot recently and you can't fault them for punctuality and price. Also, the new 737-800 is a terrific a/craft. Food and drink onboard continue to be a rip-off, as are charges for checking in luggage at the airport (why can't you add hold baggage via their website???).
You can add it as an option when you list your passenger details.
I tried this for our recent flight, they wanted £18 for one bag and if I checked one bag , the rest of the family had to pay £6 each check in charge!
We decided to travel extremely light instead because the extra charges would have made it too expensive:rolleyes:
Im not moaning though, I guess if you want a cheap flight you take what they charge and you accept it.
We could have booked one of us to travel seperately but didnt want to risk either one person getting the flight and the rest not and vice versa as the booking system glitched repeatedly while trying to book!DFW £10923 (nov2014)0 -
I don't fly Ryanair often-partly they often don't fly here I want to go and partly I can get double miles on BA however whenever I have done they have been on time, seats hav e been adequate for the short flight and they've been CHEAP.
I've worked in the travel business and seen it all when it comes to passengers with unrealistic expectations and a lack of understanding of the booking conditions that they have agreed to.
Ryan air are not the best airline in the world -nor do they aspire to be-they simply fill a particular niche in the market and do what they do very well.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Have flown with Ryanair many times and have never had a problem.. I go to Galway often and even taking into account the cost of bus/train is always worked out miles cheaper than Aer Arann.. until recently that is, the extra costs that have started being added on and Aer Arran dropping their prices slightly means its as cheap (and easier) to fly direct
I'm not knocking them there.. still think they offer a good service

I took four Ryanair flights this week, DUB-STN-PMF-STN-DUB.
All four were on time, and although the STN-PMF planes were both a bit grubby I had only cabin baggage and no problem at all.
A word of warning though - priority boarding in Parma is not worth the cost - all it means is you get to walk outside first, but no one boards until everyone is outside. People line up along a line painted on the ground, and once the FA says it's time then everyone sprints for the plane!Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

My favourite Ryanair moments are when the flight is late, but because the crew are a bit on autopilot, they put that announcement on anyway...

Like the comment "bus with wings", thats how i've always looked at it. My girlfriends first flight was ryanair and she enjoyed it. Went to sardinia last year booked the hotel through them as well, had a terrific week, will use the hotel booker again. Woodstoke I've been trying to find good deals to marrakesh for months, when are you going?0

Just used Ryanair for the first time. Very happy, especially with the punctuality - it left and landed early both times.0

Not a criticism of anything else on this thread......
but its easy to always arrive early, if you quote an arrival time in the schedules that you can usually beat!Neil0 -

I think 'basic' is a relative word. Have just done BHX-DUB-BHX and it was no more basic than any low-cost carrier.
But agree about the 737-800. Very smooth and quiet - even though we were sitting next to the engine! Has anyone else noticed, though, that there are no seat-back pockets now? Put down to 'new' safety regulations!
One thing I really liked about the Check-'n'-Go online check-in is that it is now possible to get to the exit row seats if you in the queue early! Very useful for a 6' plus like me!
As for the food and drink - it certainly is expensive. FAR more so than anyone else I've been with lately.
Last comment - about the staff. It would appear that the 'gripers' may be pricing themselves out of jobs (like many other UK and presumably Irish staff!). It seemed many of the cabin staff were now East Europeans.
So, a big tick-in-the-box from me for Ryanair.0
