snowgo that's a great link to Monevator. I will also have a browse through the site.
Wentthedaywell? it should be worth your while shopping around. Last year I made out my will (which was quite complex as it involved setting up a trust fund) and power of attorney and this came to £239.
Managed to save £200 into my e-saver along with 27p interestso updated my signature. I still can't quite believe that I'm saving money for the first time in my life.
On the hoarding front I found a stash of Body Shop bits hidden in the garage. OH has obviously been on the grabbit board again! There are 12 large bottles of shampoo, which I estimate should last us for 3 years, 9 large bottles of shower gel and 7 assorted soaps. Also being valentines day OH got me a (free) box of chocolates which was on the hotdeals site so now we have 16 boxes of chocolate!Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -
Oh cydney you have me in stitches again :rotfl:
Along the same lines, I said the other day there that I had plenty cheese in my fridge and I would use it all up before I bought more. Well, it is not all used up and I bought more yesterdayIn my defence, I am using it all up and it is different cheeses for different things (cheddar, cheese spread, parmesan for grating, etc).
Just for clarification, I am not cydney's wifeMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

I am in that line of work (in the finance side) and we usually charge a maximum of £250 + VAT for a will (average £200) and £200 + VAT for power of attorney plus the £70 outlay to have it registered. I am in Scotland though, not sure of the differences in law for these things. Shop around Wentthedaywell? you will possibly get a better deal
Thanks for the advice Girlatplay- yes, I will get a few quotes. To be fair on the solicitor, I think it is the registering with the Office of Protection or something, rather than her fees, that is the big cost. I need two lots of power or attorney, for both money and for health, so it's double bubble.
Cydney that seems a really good price. Did you actually do the formal registration, or did you get the power of attorney drafted but not registered? It seems so cheap compared to my quote.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Great job lbnblbnb, well on your way to hitting the 12K goal!
Getting bored waiting for pay day now, only half way through the month so 14 more days to wait. Only £50 added to the ISA savings so far this year (calender) so 2.5% of my goal, but as soon as I get paid £200-£240 is going straight into my total depending on how much overtime I do, so at least I will be up to 12.5-15% of my target.
Good job everyone, thanks for the motivation!Save 12K in 2013, #203.

Payday today and got my save as you earn share sale through last week. So I have cleared the last of my credit card debt (minus a few pence that will probably show up as interest next statement).
Got £915 shelved away ready to go into ISA.
Hopefully this amount will not reduce but I've cut my budget down quite a bit this month and want to keep some spare just incase I've trimmed it too much.0
