Sharing everyone's enthusiasm for the new start here, with £270 (and 7 pence!) deposited so far. I'm obsessing with finding new ways to top up the savings to reach the goal - one lovely treat was remembering the two month break from council tax, and the credit refund from the old electric provider!
Had completely forgotten about 2 months no council tax, shall amend my spreadsheetSave £6k in 2013 member 168 £1187/60000 -

Hello all!
Happy New Year to everyone
After far too long unemployed, I have now been set on permanently in my p/t temp job - so I can start saving... :j
They are reviewing soon, so I may get more hours..... This is what I am doing/planning:
1. £25 S/O pm into ISA (will try and up this later to fill it).
2. Match into OH ISA too.
3. £50 S/Opm into Regular Saver (again raise this to the max).
4. Going to try and save my monthly wage as well and live on OH wage.
5. If I can do (3), will then try to save more from OH wage by:
Menu planning
Frugal meals from scratch recipes on MSE
Shopping around if we need anything
Shopping from CS all year, esp. presents if see anything
Download free books from web onto new Kindle (yay!)
Look at free recycling sites too if we need to
Build up stores again
Bulk buy if it's cheaper
Up my income - using tips from this site
Learning at art class - will make stuff like cards, etc... throughout the year
Use staff discount when I get it
Shop at cheaper shops e.g. 'Ald*'
Learn to do my own preserves
Grow more of my own veg etc
Try to invest some of it as interest rates are so low?
Think, think and think again before spending
Saving change in a bottle (pressies, treats)
Anything else I can think of!
Good luck everyone, I hope we all reach our targets...
Kind wishes

My updates will usually be later in the month as payday is 24th.
But I received a cheque for £30.12 from a survey site so that's now in my savings account and I'm off the mark :jCC Debt at LBM Nov 08 - £25000+ DFD Dec 2012Second DFD May 2021Starting my MFW journey: Opening Balance: £138,000; July 2019: £135107.33; July 2024 £52974.602025 MFW #360 -
I'm hoping to sort out some bits to sell later, if I manage to save £12k this year I'd be so proud myself!0

Just sold two boxes of cat food my cat won in a competition. £8.00 start for me.
I've committed to go without shop bought lunches on another thread throughout January so that will save me £50.
Also placed an order for staple foods with Approved Foods instead of going to the supermarket so will add that when I know what the details are.
Forgot to say I want to reduce / cut out alcohol so each day I don't have wine I want to add the value of the drink I would have had to my savings. I recon it's about £7.00 per day. I'll total saving up at the end of each week and keep a running total.
All the posts are very encouraging.0 -
