Well I looked at a tutorial for new iPad users on the tube of you and have fallen in lurve. Ok, so I don't NEED one but I really really want one...even my 91 year old dad is getting one! So I'm going to save up for one. In my signature is my new 'iPad fund'. I can afford one now, but I need to save for it so I can learn to wait. You never know I may decide, when I have the money, that I don't want one any more!
Have a look around the house and see what you may be able to sell to fund it?
I do this regularly and find I have things I'm happy to move on in order to fund something new.
If you have any indoor car boot sales or table top sales then it might be a good time of year to try one. Did a car boot sale last year and made £200 very easily.0 -
Im a newbie on this forum but saw title and had to get involved! This year has been ok for savings but nothing close to 12k!
onwards and upwards for 2014 - in theory I could aim to save 1.5k per month but will try for 1k to be realistic0 -
I just realised I have hit my savings target for 2013 and the best thing is that the amount I've saved is after all the Christmas shopping has been paid for
I always pay my card balances in full but especially like having a clean credit card over Christmas instead of having to pay for it in the New Year when it's cold and miserable
I've sort of gone off the savings track in the latter half of the year and would have saved more if I hadn't frittered away money on stuff I fancied.
Been in the debt trap before, it nearly drove me insane as I had no one to turn to, and massive debts through my own sheer stupidity. Took years to pay every single cent working all the hours God sent but finally did it. Really, nothing beats the peace of mind that comes with staying in the black and having some savings. I need to be far more disciplined though and 2014 beckons - I can't wait to start a brand new year of saving!

A final instalment of £1,200 concludes my savings for this year. Its been a good year for me and I can only hope to save such a huge amount year on year. Uncertainty lies ahead, so my target is set lower for next year.
Well done to everyone :T. I wish everyone a merry Christmas, a happy new year and a prosperous 2014.
Best wishes

My final wage of the year will be next Thursday so I will allocate the last to my savings then. I also know that I am getting money from my parents for Christmas and will probably save at least 50% of it so a final savings for 2013 will go into the accounts between Christmas and New Year.
Its been a funny year and I know I haven't done as well in my savings as I would have liked. That said, I have now almost £10k in my emergency savings account which is great. I have never had an emergency savings account before and it feels great to know that this money is there if I need it.0 -
Well an update on my saving in 2013. I managed to save £10030 from January to September. My original goal was £7000 and if I saved this I would be given £10000 by a relative to help with buying a house. £7000 soon saved so I increased the saving challenge to £10000. House bought 15/11/13. Bye bye £10030.
But hello to a nice home of my own

Well done everyone. So many have already reached their target. I will be adding my last instalment for the year end of next week when, unless something happens in between to change the goalposts, I will have hit my target.:D!

Small amount in the iPad fund which has made me happy and I'm possibly going to join the £365 in 365 days challenge as well.
