    Thanks Paddles.

I'm trying to be strict with myself - I pay myself first each month into savings accounts and only leave a small amount in my current account every month.

This is to cover essential expenses & direct debits plus a little extra for small treats / unexpected amounts so the account is almost empty at the end of each month and that deters me from spending money just because "it is there"

This is the way I have been doing it too.

joycemh_tan, you are very welcome. And belated congratulations on your marriage. I wish you and your other half the very best for the future.

Well done allie23. Fantastic result. First one through the finish line. Keep going. :j

And well done to everyone else. I will probably not add much, if anything, this month as plan to do an overpayment on the mortgage. Both plans are on track.:T

    Hi all

(copied from the other savings thread as I'm lazy :D )

Sooo... my end of 2012 total was £62,200.

I didn't get to update at the end of January, so I've just done my end of Feb total. I have £64,271 saved - a total of £2,071 in the first 2 months of 2013!

    I'm still aiming for £13,000 in 2013 :D

Well done to everyone, keep up the good work!

Hello everyone! You're all doing so well :D

I didn't update at the end of March (was so busy), so I've just done my end of April total. I have £67,530 saved - a total of £3,259 in March and April! I've been super disciplined the last 2 months - no unnecessary spending at all - and it's really paid off.

I'm on track to exceed my £13,000 target :D

Well done to everyone, keep up the good work!

    Off to update my sig...

Only £860 saved for April but May is off to a good start - opened accounts at first direct, mostly to get the regular saver and the £125 for opening, and the first payment of £300 went in yesterday.

    Hello everyone!

Hope that you are all really enjoying this weather? Fingers crossed that it continues over the bank holiday weekend!

Right so I cant help but smile.... :j I've had a really good month!

    So here's the totals....

    BS Standing order - £1000.00
    Regular Saver - £250.00
    Savings Account - £1102.68

    Total - £2352.68

I have really scrimped by this month - I've been doing crazy amounts of overtime and so have had no time to go out to spend any money! It was also a bit of push to fill up the new ISA... so that was my goal this month!

Everyone else seems to be doing really well - you are all such an inspiration! And a big well done to Allie for breaking the 12k barrier!:j x
