If you are talking cash (not stocks and shares too), why would you want it in two accounts? I'd just it in the one with the best interest as it makes it easier when you transfer it next year.

Thanks.:) I think I'm going with the NS&I one.

I'm declaring £550 for APRIL. Not including the £200 which has gone into our holiday fund as this will be spent.

Nearly half way to my target which is good :)
Loving the inspiration from you guys. Keep up the good work. x

I just put aside £540 into cash ISA and £550 into regular monthly savings. And also £200 into stocks and shares ISA.

A question to all you lovely MSE forummers out there: Do you include amounts contributed into stocks and shares ISA / SIPP into your savings target amount?

I feel like I haven't saved much this year - problems with our house purchase and having to cough up extra deposit meant eating into savings.

I've only saved £4,288 so far out of my £15,000 target. A bit down :(

    Hi,

I include money saved or invested (which includes money I invest into my S&S ISA) as well as interest earned on cash investments during this year. I am not sure how one would deal with a SIPP as I don't have one, and would therefore defer to those in the know. However, I would be inclined to include it as a SIPP is a private savings into a pension plan. I doubt whether it matters what type of financial product the money gets paid into.

Oh, and don't be down. Every penny saved is an achievement. You are doing just great.

    Keep saving,

  • I am now over the £12K mark thanks to a cash gift from OHs parents!! They gave us a cheque for £2000 last week. We have decided to save half and spend half - probably on a holiday. So, I have put another £1000 towards my emergency savings bringing my total saved to £12,720.:j:j

I will be adding my usual monthly update at the end of this month but was so excitied to be over the £12k so far that I wanted to post about it - also so that I won't take the money back out and add it to the holiday fund!!

    Thanks Susanne, for the encouragement!
I tend to be quite hard on myself but if the savings target is exceeded I will be over the moon!

We've also been on honeymoon in March so that cost a bit and I wasn't able to add to savings.

    Happy saving!

Hi :) Considering you've had much to spend out on I think you've done brilliantly. I have the same target as you and have only reached £4,550 and haven't any excuses - but I still think I can get to £15k by the end of the year which is the main thing :D

Only £550 to add for April, but am hoping for a really good May and June - hopefully will be back on track and halfway there in June.

Well done to everyone else, this thread is very inspiring!

    Thanks Paddles.

I'm trying to be strict with myself - I pay myself first each month into savings accounts and only leave a small amount in my current account every month.

This is to cover essential expenses & direct debits plus a little extra for small treats / unexpected amounts so the account is almost empty at the end of each month and that deters me from spending money just because "it is there"

  • Declaring £400 saved during April. Total saved is now £870.34, so well on track for the £2000 target :j:j
