I have a very paltry £26 to add this month! :(
Trying so hard to get a job but can't get anything. Amazed at the large amounts some of you are putting away, it's brilliant. Can't wait to be earning just to get saving!! :j

I still live at home with my mum. When I move out I won't be able to save anywhere near the amount I do now :p Incidentally moving out is what I'm saving for!
    What will your verse be?

Still 3 days of March left, but I'm reporting in now as we're away for a few days. Bit of a mixed month really - a HUGE gas bill as we're swapping providers, and some holiday costs settled. But less outgoings in a few other places, some interest from closed bank accounts, and a bit of back-pay all helped. Declaring £1656.76 for March - pulling us almost back on-target to reach 12k by the end of the year. Pleased with that.

Well done everyone, some great savings being reported recently!

Ugh, March is always an ugly month, with my car to tax and MOT. Just £225 for me..... *sigh*
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
  • Wobblydeb you did fantastic at this challenge last year!! Did you spend the money or still got it :D ?

Same here! Well, boyfriend and I live with his mum. So all we pay each month is a third of the bills each. Makes saving quite easy! (particularly if like me, you don't smoke and barely drink). We are saving for a house deposit.

£1800 for March. Not quite as much as hoped, but it was our anniversary and we went to Bath for a long weekend. Beautiful city but very expensive!

So all in all a rather better month than I initially expected, a total of £1114 saved and up to £3152 for the first quarter. That's only £98 behind the quarter-distance mark for the year, much better than I expected

How embarrassing, going through my bank statements i've just found £300 I had forgotten I had saved earlier in the month :o  so it's actually £1414 this month and i'm £202 ahead of schedule :D

Well done to everyone on the savings progress, it's very motivating to see how well you are all doing. :T

Well considering I had a 5 day holiday abroad this month I've still managed to do quite well.

Not quite ready to fully declare for March yet but the plan is to open a S&S ISA with Fidelity with £500 (£100 quidco on offer).

I also want to shelter at least £1500 into an instant access ISA account before the end of tax year. I would have managed more but I'm waiting on £1,000 of expenses due back from work, which will probably not reach me until after 5th April now due to the bank holidays.

My first pension contributions came out of this months salary (£275/month of which I only have to contribute £82.50 through salary sacrifice). Won't be including this amount in my challenge amount though.

My best result came yesterday. After clearing the garage out and tidying it up 6 months ago I was reminded of my road bike (push bike) sitting there gathering dust. I finally got my bum in gear yesterday and listed it on a specialist website. 2 hours later it was collected and £500 cash in my hand! A great result as it was never going to be used properly under my ownership. Naturally this will be added to my total but not sure where it will go yet (probably the ISA).

It also means that I'm motivated to sell some other stuff. Got some other bike related items to list on ebay and a few other bits and bobs. I'm going to set a target of £100 and will update you on how I do :)
  • Hi All, please ignore this post, I'm just testing whether my new signature works. I thought if I saw my targets everytime I opened the forum, it would spur me on! :D
