Regular saver £300 has gone out, plus £255 that i'd budgeted for something we ended up not buying so rather than spend it on something else off it goes into savings. So all in all a rather better month than I initially expected, a total of £1114 saved and up to £3152 for the first quarter. That's only £98 behind the quarter-distance mark for the year, much better than I expected having also had to deal with the happily-departed nastyloan.

Next month should be ok, so fingers crossed I can get ahead of target at last :)

Up to £3000 but struggled a bit this month  Am closer to being approved for extra shifts though so hopefully can pick up the saving later in the year. Well done to everyone, some fantastic totals already on here

I have found the same issue with eBay costing so much and the 25% fees with PayPal as well, a great alternative is to try gumtree and Friday Ads and post things up for free, plus buyer collects so no postage costs! In addition I have found 3 local for sale pages on Facebook and have had great success there over the last few months, much quicker to put info online that way too! Good luck! x

Hi tales17 - can you tell me more about this? i am pretty techno phobic lol, so can you tell me how to find the local sale pages on facebk? i am okay with gumtree. thanks for the hints! i think these will work better for me. With the postage the way it is now, i just cant believe anyone makes a profit from random bits and bobs they have. what are friday ads??

pay day too but we have to see how my dentist bills fare!

My current account and savings account are one and the same, so it's difficult to know exactly how much I've saved, but I got paid today and think I will be able to save another £700 this month, making my savings £1,400 and well on track :D
    What will your verse be?

I have a very paltry £26 to add this month! :(
Trying so hard to get a job but can't get anything. Amazed at the large amounts some of you are putting away, it's brilliant. Can't wait to be earning just to get saving!! :j

  • Wow, desperate housewife that is a tremendous total! I see you saved £10,250 for this challenge last year, do you still have it or did you spend it? I plan doing this challenge for 3 or 4 years in a row, this is my first!

I'm declaring March now. I'd potted away £966.43 last payday (15th March) but overdid the pub on my week off so I've stolen back £336.20 to last me until next payday (12th April).

I do wish we were paid monthly not 4 weekly as it would make budgetting slightly easier. My trouble is I'm single, a drinker and a smoker so while I can budget for food/petrol etc. well, when it comes to beer tokens I'm useless, if I want to go to pub I will!

Anyway, with cigarettes just gone up this morning in my local newsagents from £6.98 to £7.23 I' seriously considering trying to quit again.

Anyway .... £630.23 xferred to ISA which will be the last of this years at £1302.02. Way off intended target but this time last year I had treble that in CC debt so I don't care.

    Thanks, well done all.
  • Hats off to you Desperate Housewife, your determination is amazing! ;)

If you want to continue to smoke without the expense eklipze, why don't you try tobacco thats what I did, I was spending a fortune on packets of cigs. My preference was JP blues and now I smoke Amber Leaf tobacco. I know I really should go off them but I dont have the will power yet :(
