Wobblydeb you did fantastic at this challenge last year!! Did you spend the money or still got it :D ?
I've still got it. We're in the process of buying a house and will put down 25% deposit and then spend a similar amount repairing and renovating. Fingers crossed it should complete in the next few weeks!

I couldn't say where last year's money ended up though - because I just aim to fill my ISA (S&S) and earn as much as possible on the rest, which is in cash. I am trying not to take anything out of the ISA because that is my early retirement / take time out of work to raise kids fund :)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

Total of £669.09 saved in March. Have just sent the update email.
Lets see how April's savings turn out as long as can put something away I will be happy.

Hope that everyone is doing well and managing to save something.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • £750 for me this month.

Not sure what to do with the money in my cash Isa. Currently have over £10,000 sat with the nationwide earning 3.1%. This changes to a tiny rate at the end of August.

Not sure what the rates will be like at the end of August but I'm assuming they'll be worse than what's on offer now.

I can either keep it where it is and then look out for a good rate in August or move it now and get a rate that might be better than the rates on offer in August for the whole year. (I think nationwides current rate for balances over £10,000 is 2.25%)

Does anyone have any thoughts on this.

Mine runs out the beginning of July; the rate is currently 3.3%. I was going to keep it in the higher rate account and see what's on offer in when it runs out.

I was always bobbins at rolling them so never got on.

Have you tried using a rolling machine? I converted my friend to rolling a few years ago but she couldn't roll for toffee either (plus she was a lefty and as a righty that seemed to make it harder to try teach her) so used a machine. She's not bought a packet of straights since.

I recently stopped smoking, but I can vouch for the savings, it probably cost me around £5 a week smoking 10 a day which is a fraction of what it would cost to smoke straights.

I'm just about to submit the form with only a £100 saving for this month. I broke a tooth yesterday and have private treatment so I'm going to have to fork out for that in the next week or two. It was already due to have a crown built for it, and at over £600 I'd been putting it off. It's a good thing I'd set a modest goal for this year as even with this looming expense I should be able to balance things about by the end of the year and hopefully exceed target. Plus I have my £2 savers stash for emergency use which I haven't been counting in this challenge, so that will help.

I'm in a similar position. I'm opening a Cash ISA with Santander this year and transferring previous years across as well. They have the best rate!

    Hello one and all!
Just found this and submitted up monthly savings using the form and also updated signature (although I'm not sure how I get my number, think I have to wait for Mods to approve my submissions!)
I am saving for at least £20k (10% of £200k) for my first house and I would also like to have an additional £5k for legal fees and a little change for paint or whatever new place needs also any extra I can save in addition is a bonus =)

Hi everyone! Well Done on everyone's progress. Mine has been slow, my OH is unemployed so not a lot of saving for me. My totals are:

    Feb £16.15
    March £72.94

February was a bad month for me but March is better. :p

Sorry for falling off the radar a bit not a lot to report so far.

On the plus side OH has a job interview, the first for three months so fingers crossed! :)
