Bad news for me unfortunately - had a collision with a Transit van on Tuesday that is going to set me back over £700 in repairs :( Excess on insurance means it's not worth claiming.

Oh well, will need to get creative in ideas to make up the shortfall! On the bright side, it could have been much worse so trying to not stress too much :)

The other bright side is that at least you have savings so don't have to borrow and get into debt. Glad to hear you are ok though.

£4.15 into the pot today :)
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

Am pleased to say that I'm on track with my savings commitment in this thread and if all goes according to plan, I should more than double it by year-end :) Saving's addictive, isn't it?

EDIT: How exciting - I just opened my first cash ISA :)

Thank you very much. I am busy doing a clean-out and want to put a couple of items on instead of dumping them in the bin.

Is it really? I'll consider giving it a whirl then. What I love about the first months of the year is you can make money into this month's total from your past purchases which affected last year's savings :) So it looks a bigger win.

Sorry a lot has happened in real life (taking parents to several hospital visits) plus I had to get a new bank card and pin no. twice so have only been able check balance now.

Just in case I input the information in wrong as I am currently down with a chest infection and flu, it should be Feb £750 and March £550 totals.

    ARGHHHH!

Just as I dust myself off from January(lending money) I now have to stump up £150 for my mothers 50th. My siblings are pressuring me to match what they are inputting and when I suggested £100 would be more than suffice they laughed and said it was a poultry amount! To them maybe, but that's a lot of money for me. I am especially annoyed as my brother is a millionaire and the interest alone he earns in a day would pay for a week away to Paris for her. Why he is only paying £150 beats me. I am the one who's always here for her, the one who gets it when she's being an !!!!! and the one who has to put up with her nagging. Mothers day was all up to me, where am I taking her for lunch, what am I gifting and how long am I spending with her. Brothers lives in Texas and Sister is travelling. How annoying. I'm sick of her, I know she's my mother but she's racist, a homophobe and I struggle not to say anything. To give her £150 of my hard earned money when she can't even be bothered with my children pi$$es me off!
