I have 7 people watching one e*ay item and no one watching the rest! It's been a bit slow on there lately! My main goal is to have a decent amount of money at the end of the year for a first home deposit etc - determined to get there!0

Same here. It's not even like I had a flash lifestyle but even so, I was blimmin' middle class in comparison to now! Still, I have learned LOADS of lessons and the only thing I would change is that I wouldn't date one particular numpty from my past. Other than that  here's to the future!
89p popped into the savings pot today. I would have laughed at 89p a few years back...

We used to spend every penny and be wise with most of it but still always skint, it was things like baby milk, jars and clothes that were needed but there were better options, ofcourse now we are much better but i do wonder how much we'd have saved by now if we jumped on the wagon earlier.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on much but am saving away. Love reading everyones posts, it really keeps me going...
On the subject of spending, tried to convince two of my family members to change to the cheaper (but from what I can tell exactly the same) milk today in Tesco (I think it's the Creamfields rather than Tesco's own), and you would of thought I was trying to poison them! :rotfl::rotfl: did you not explian that all milk has to meet regulations? we buy the cheapest milk here which is either 90p in asda or 90p in the farm shop and theres no compliants, hubbys abit miffed that i've decided to stop buying the butchers meat pack, it was good value but we're doing low carb so alot of meat and i feel i can get double for my money with the 3 for £10 deals and a few packets of turkey mince (nommy meatballs) he'll live tho and still eat whats infront of him. Maybe you should go shopping on ur own next time.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Hi all
(copied from the other savings thread as I'm lazy)
Sooo... my end of 2012 total was £62,200.
I didn't get to update at the end of January, so I've just done my end of Feb total. I have £64,271 saved - a total of £2,071 in the first 2 months of 2013!
I'm still aiming for £13,000 in 2013

Have 27 watchers on one of my dolls on fleabay. I'm getting a bit scared actually. I'm 99% certain she is worth some good money but there is always that nagging doubt that I've got her scarcity value wrong and I will be found out! Still I've made £5 profit on her already and it's due to end on Sunday so we will see.
Have been approved for the Santander current account. Just waiting for the details to come through before I set two direct debits up on it and then try and switch it to either First Direct (£100 switching and 6% regular saver) or Nationwide (5% on balance). OH thinks I'm mad doing this but I just want the small amount of money I have to work harder + I'm in love with this whole savings lark!Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -
This thread is always a very good read!
I feel inspired! After taking a few notes I'm going to...
- Rummage the wardrobe to see what I can sell on ebay
- Go through my loft and see if I have a few "vintage" bits and bobs I can sell
- Squeeze my food budget a bit more and see if I can save any extra from that.
I will keep you guys posted and let you know if I have any success!!0 -
Hello all, hope everyone is doing well. Keep those balances on the rise and save save save.
Well the past 2 months have been well....expensive.
My car was due a MOT, tax, 4 tyres, 2 new springs and a sensor was needing replaced. It was getting to the stage that I didnt feel safe in it so I bought a new car.
Its fantastic. Its 4 wheel drive, more fuel efficient and over £1000 cheaper to insure. However it did sting me nearly £20,000.
But hey, live once and all that. My target this year was to save £6000 and reach that target of £10,000.
I have maxed out my ISA allowance, so that has £5645.40 (£5.40 interest) and I have £300 in a separate emergency fund. I also have £440 away in a car maintenance account which I put £60 a month into. My car is an audi so tyres, servicing and MOT costs are expensive. It just saves me having a hefty bill next year and having no money for it, at least I can cover the costs without too much trouble if I have some cash away waiting.
Im still due some inheritance money, but I cant see me getting it any time soon. Its a few Thousand, but its complicated.
My monthly expenses have gone wayyyyy up since only a few months ago. With the car and a few other things, I can no longer save hundreds a month.
For the rest of the year, I hope to continue with the £60 a month to the car fund, £125 to the emergency fund, £50 to pay off the 0% credit card balance and if I somehow find any other money, it goes to next years ISA.
Well folks, thats my life story. Hope everyone is doing well. Keep at it, it will pay off at some point.House deposit £2800/£10000

Another bonus that I hadn't anticipated (although I really knew was coming as there is no point keeping a car that I'm not using) Just sold my lovely car Betsy for £2250, so as I hadn't planned to do anything with that money into the savings pot it will go (at the end of the month at least)Save £12k in 2014 Member 81 £1930.23/£50000
