I got given an eternity ring about 6 months after the birth of our son - we waited until I found one I liked.....

However, the best present was my lunches made for me while on maternity leave and left in the fridge - it is so difficult to find time to eat, let alone prepare anything, with a newborn!

    My Hubby is an :A.

Currently negotiating for the birth of number 2...... wish me luck!

I never expected nor received any presents from my O.H apart from his love and support I (we) had just been given the best present with the birth of our children
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.
  • I got a beautiful pendant. It is shaped like a little boys head.
    ;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)

It seems I wasn't the only one who would find a packed lunch in the fridge! Lol

DD1 has disabilities and I couldn't drive so had to get the bus to her special needs school with a small baby in a pram. DD2 had colic, reflux, constipation and for the first 6 months of her life would only sleep on me. I barely got time to shower, let alone make food!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I didn't get anything physical as a present...never noticed TBH.

What I did get was a new overwhelming surge of love for my husband as I watched him in the daddy role with his newborn son. And as I felt so loved and looked after as he did everything he possibly could to make sure my needs were taken care of too.

Just had to go hug him. What wonderful memories I've remembered and a fresh pair of eyes to see all the ways he's loved me and our kids this week.

If someone you love is nearby, go hug them. Just because.

DD (my first) arived 2 days before mothers day and I didn't even get flowers AND the card came from my own stock ( I make cards!!!) What I do have is much better though - I have a DH who pulls his weight, who gets up when one of the kids wakes, who takes them downstairs when they wake early on a weekend even though he'd really love the lie in (or lion as DD calls it!) himself just because I look like I need it and he knows how full on my days are with 2 wonderful children (who just happen to have disabilities). I have the sort of bloke who never buys me flowers but who does bring home bunches of the first British asparagus because he knows it's my very favourite even if it is so very expensive when it first appears. Eternity rings are beautiful and I certainly wouldn't turn one down (lol) but I'd not swap the wonderful supportive man I married 3 weeks ago for one.

    Thats nice!

but, when you have an OH who doesnt do those lovely supportive things either - then a bit of appreciation doesnt come amiss!:)

Didn't think there was any such tradition. Ensuring your wife gets a few decent nights sleep and an occasional bath will be enough.

a lot of small high street jewellers will do 'commission' pieces. you can even take in old jewellery to have 'melted down' and remade, or an old item 'refashioned'.
It isnt always as expensive as you think - especially if you supply the gold.
  • A trillogy ring signifies past, present and future which could apply to you (past=pre children, present=new baby, future=future life as a family) and could be worn on either hand.

A piece of jewellery, ring or pendant with the new baby's birth stone?

Can anyone suggest somewhere good for Jewellery? I know a lot of the high street ones are either a rip off or poor quality for the money
It depends what your wife likes, I personally like big chunky blingy jewellery but my daughter likes delicate fine stuff. Amazon do some nice bits.
