seeking happiness you could try making your own food for the pooch, my housemate used to feed hers pasta although not sure how good this is for them. Alternatively, Am4zon have some good offers on pet food every now and then, if you do sw4gbucks or something like that you could buy in bulk with the free vouchers

    Hi all.
I decided to have a look at all of my online accounts for water, credit card and BT this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. Under £100 (only just) on my credit card as from today !!!! Woooo!
Am also now in CREDIT with BT, and water, the first time in years :)

    Very happy about that.

Its been a few days since I checked in. just declaring NSD number 8. Had planned spend days saturday and sunday, but went a little bit off track saturday! I splashed out in asda, I wanted some good quality choc to make rocky-road and ended up spending £4.80. I also bought a mcflurry £1.29!! I reassured myself in the knowledge that a couple of months ago I would have bought a full meal as we and probably spent £7 on lunch. Never mind, we live and learn.

I've still one christmas pressie to buy, am trying to claw back pennies by using amazon vouchers for this. Am currently 93 SBs away from my final £5 voucher to cover it!!

As I said in my last post, I don't think my funds are going to cover all plans this month. I have £63 sat in paypal from ebay sales last week, so holding this back for a "wildcard" day. Hope this fits in with the rules!!

Evening everyone  Impressed by everyone's efforts! I'm still plodding away, cranking up the NSD tally. Currently sitting at 8, with tomorrow being another one. My freezer's empty of all the batch cooking I did earlier in the month, but the supermarket shop I did at the weekend had enough for at least 12 more meals so, with the exception of fresh fruit, veggies and maybe some bread, I shouldn't need anything else....except Christmas food - got a visitor coming so having an empty fridge and no bread/milk's probably not a great idea. I'll try and steer us towards eating in (big chilli pot with candles, music and chat sounds fun!) but we'll be Christmas shopping in London (she'll shop, I'll be the tour guide!) so I guess we'll eat out one night. I've budgeted £80 for her visit so a meal out won't break the bank!

Do any of you frugalistic babes (boys, feel free to throw in a suggestion if it's your area of expertese too...no judgement here:D) know of any thick, non woolly, hold you in, lift your butt type tights that are decently priced? I need a pair to wear with a woollen dress bt don't want to waste my money on rubbish ones. I was thinking 100ish denier? Should I go higher/lower? I'm a jeans and trainers kinda gal, no idea about tights!

Now on NSD 3!!!! The urge to splurge on shoes has subsided, and no Kat there isn't a man involved although that'd be nice... Maybe in the New Year I'll get back to looking?

I'm now trying to predict what the January thread will be called. January Jam Jar Savings? January Jolly Debt Jousting? January Financial Japery? I know they're not very good but it amuses me.

Oh, almost forgot, I also put £3 in my secret sock - which I had nearly forgotten about. I hope to secrete more secret funds into this over the next 6 months and then go and buy some nice bits of home furnishings/tat/yankee candles/heart shaped hanging ornaments for my new abode.

Good luck everyone in the run up to the weekend! :):):):)
  • Hey All,

Been really low last day or so - worried it wasn't going to work out in my new place and let all the upheavel get me down... I think going home and seeing the swish houses my brother and sister have, and then coming back to my life in boxes not even filling one small room... made me a bit sad. I told myself off and tried to remember what I'd said to others - I'm warm, safe, have a roof over me etc. Then when I had a few ups and downs I was scared I'd lose that... Went out and bought fish and chips and chocolate!!! I CONFESS!!!

Thankfully things seem to have shifted and I think its going to be fine... I feel brighter anyhow!!!
My heart really goes out to those people who don't have homes at this time of year especially. Where have people been doing their food drops? I want to do something like that too.

Siouxsie32... Alas - I am no tight-wearing superhero and cannot
comment on best quality leg wear... and am not quite at the stage of wearing long johns just yet!!! Maybe next year ha ha :D

    Today = NSD number 7

Abundant- sorry to hear you were feeling a bit low. I guess its just a case of, like you said, appreciating what you DO have, and thinking of this stage in your life as just a temporary situation, and concentrating on how much better your life will become because of it :) Sending you hugs (or a manly slap on the back)!

I'd avoid @sda and Pmarks Siouxsie. The wool tights I bought from there are seem to fall down on me, as I don't think the elastic is very strong at the top which goes around your waist. I would rate Pretty P0lly or M&S. You may be able to get good quality ones a bit cheaper at TK mxx too. Hope this helps.

Abundant I'm sorry you felt blue again, but you are doing the right thing to get where you need to go. I have had the same experience when going round to friend's 'perfect' houses. I tell myself that all in good time I'll be on my way and get to my dream too.

P.S. I just saw an ad on the TV for the Sally Army. You could donate to them perhaps, as they seem to be collecting for the homeless. I think that's what I'm gonna do as well as bunging a few tins etc in a food bank bin/box at the supermarket. Over and out...
