  • Hey just checking in, my phone bill came out saturday so that was a spend day (also bought some crisps on top of that which i am regretting).

Yesterday was a NSD - the benefit of working a 12 hour shift i suppose!!

Don't think im getting enough exercise but i am trying.

Start my new job 1 week today - it is partly uniformed so i dont need to go out and buy a load of office wear, just some more black trousers and a black cardi - mine look a bit grey now. Going to rout through my wardrobe and see what i can find though and hopefully put off any spends until jan when i can get things in the sale. I know that breaks a rule but does it count if i have to buy it anyways - better to buy it cheap right?

    Hello everyone!!!

It's so good to be back... I missed not checking in with everyone...

Well done everyone (and that includes everyone who fell off the wagon but had the courage to confess!!!)... None of us are :A - even NSK ha ha :D

Am back and sort of in my new place although surrounded by boxes. Long story but can't unpack until my current bed/furniture is taken away and new stuff arrives (hopefully tomorrow)... Frustrating but can't be helped. Have my computer up and running so can at least report in!!!

Friday was a spend day (used up food vouchers) and still have £6,77 left to spend on groceries this month (whoop whoop!). That will keep me in bread at least! Have a pretty full cupboard!

Also had a take-away (planned meal) with my brother... and shouted him (£12.20 in total) and Saturday was a study day and a planned spend day... However - was so annoyed I didn't prepare as bought coffee and lunch in the hotel - what a rip off. When someone in the group suggested we split the bill between us I think my eyes must have flashed red and horns appeared on my head lol - really annoys me  when people do that without asking!!! Anyway - I paid for what I had ONLY (very proud) which was the most disgusting soup ever (but cheapest thing on the menu) which I left... Was very indignant at spending £8.65 on "soup"(HA!), a coffee and a diet coke. Next time I will be prepared!!!

Still - my planned spend days I'd budgeted £10 per day... If I don't spend it rolls on to the next day etc (my cash snowball!)... my aim being to save as much as I can so it rolls on and grows, so come New Year's Eve I have a good pot of spending money!!! (This money is for all non grocery items like dinner dates, nights out, clothes, treats etc). Today is spend day 4 - and out of £40 I have £19.15 left - so am feeling better about that.

Phew. Am going to file my receipts and put my remaining grocery budget in my wallet and my available spending money in an envelope... It's amazing how good it feels to have order restored and to know I'm still on track!!!

Off to get dressed and go out for some bread and my 20 minute walk... Have a good day everyone!!!

  • GreenSaints ( are you a boy or girl? ) and PixieHouse please hang around and cheer. There will most definitely be a challenge in January and it would be great to have you on board!!

Pixie remember the foster kid is with you for a reason.... she will try your patience to see if you care, she will change her mind on purpose as she is probably testing to see whether you will send her back...make a weekly plan, ask her what she wants, explain there is a budget. Plan the week together with everyone else in the house and advise them once its fixed in place that's it - it won't change.

Have a sheet of paper / child's blackboard positioned in the house for ideas to be written on for the following week so everyone can put their bids in for food they miss, desire, crave etc. then tell them broccoli is compulsory!

    Child thrive on rules!

Abundant we are all going to drop and fail at some point. I just know you are all lovely about it so I am happy to confess:rotfl:I hate it when people do that as well. I am then made to feel like the miser I know I am - but friends should be a little more accommodating I think! Well done you for sticking to your guns! Well proud of you.. Although I know what it's like being caught short when it comes to food - especially if what you pay for is horrid! We live and learn.. I have pasta shells with me again...:(

Thirfty £140 is superb money! Fantastic.. I just withdrew £3...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Every little helps!!!

    Hi Everyone, Happy Monday!

Kat, glad you had a good weekend, lovely to have you back!

I am at work and have just eaten homemade curried vegetable, lentil and tomatoe soup which was lovely. I was a bit short of veg (it was made on Saturday before I shopped) so it was onion, carrots, swede, stock, tinned tomato, lentils and curry powder. Really easy and filling. Have more in the fridge for tea/tomorrow and 2 portions in the freezer for another day.

My cold is still lingering on, turned into more of a cough yesterday but improving a bit now so fingers crossed it will go soon. Hope everyone else is feeling ok/better.

I had a NSD yesterday and am declaring todays too as I have no intention of spending anything. That means I am up to 5! I thought it would be easier to rack them up but it is hard! Tomorrow is looking like a spend day as I am taking son to meet friends at a play centre for tea. I do have a voucher for free entry and will search for a free coffee voucher which I had, although that one may have expired. Tea will be a spend although we have been promising to do this for ages and it shouldn't be to expensive. I will try and pick something cheap :)

I am going to the bank later to bank some of my Avon money (collected from customers). This cash usually gets frittered away so that when I pay my bill it is out of money in my account but this time, at least some of it is being paid back in :) I am definately spending less cash with being on this challenge it is really making me think! Lovely to read how you are all doing too.

  • PurpleJay - are you using a completely separate bank account for all your incoming money from Avon? It's clearly not your main source of income so I think we need to tidy up the way you deal with the money specifically from Avon right down to the petrol you use, the clothes you wear ( first impressions count ) etc... This is a superb way of earning money, but perhaps a little regimented fun will assist you greatly.... I am glad you have enjoyed the challenge so far, it definitely makes you realize where all the pennies are going...

Tell me more of the Avon earning please..? How often, when do you get clients mainly and from where..? Do you leaflet drop / catalogs etc..?

    Spill!

Arghh! A perfectly good NSD ruined by a 10p spend. Library book overdue by a mere day. Am now unreasonably cross!
