Morrisons told me today, that I was at the wrong till....v politly.
When I don't receive thanks for common courtesies I always say, 'you're welcome'.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I just want to say that I'm quite favourably impressed at the number of kids and young people I see getting off the bus each night who say "Thank you" to the driver. As I do myself, of course...Signature removed for peace of mind0

I've recently started to go to lunchtime 'adult' swimming at the local baths. Everyone swims lengths, with little gaggles gathering occasionally for a gossip at the shallow end. It's lovely and peaceful without kids jumping in all over the place.
The one thing that irritates the hell out of me is the more mature swimmers who plough up and down regardless of who may be swimming in the opposite direction, they bash you if you do not get out of their way quickly enough and never a word of apology. Rather like Tesco at times.
One day I'll be old...I hope.

To those people who don't like the way they've been treated at the supermarket, don't shop there. I no longer shop at Tesco's on principle, and use the local shops instead. I have an superb butcher and a lovely greengrocer. I also use a garage which actually serves you fuel (ie not self service). I know I sometimes pay a premium, but when you take into account the fuel I'd use driving to town it works out cheaper. Just think that it costs about 30p per mile to run your car. Petrol alone is at least 8p a mile. A drive to Tesco's costs me £1 in fuel, or even £4+ if you use the 30p per mile quoted by the RAC. I'd rather give that to my butcher, who always greets his customers by name, calls them sir or madam/miss, and will offer to carry things to the car or deliver them himself. That is real 5-star service.
When I must shop at the supermarket I use Waitrose, and deliberately on a Saturday. I do this because there's a good chance that I'll be served by a youngster, and in general their manners are far better than the more mature ladies who work there during the week.
The rudist group, and I'm generalising here, is undoubtedly those who are 65+. They treat us youngsters (and I'm 40) with contempt, feel that we owe them a debt, they are self centred and totally incapable of driving with consideration for other road-users. In fact, those are exactly the characteristics that they complain about in kids.Every silver lining has a cloud...

I think some of you misunderstood me.
I do pack for customers but how would any of you like it if you were packing for a customer and they just stood back with their arms folded and watched you? We help the customers as much as possible but we have to take into account that we have to keep the queues short...and to do this, it would be nice if customers didn't take liberties and expect us to pack all of their shopping without helping at all.
And worse still, there are some customers who I've packed for and they've just stood back and let me continue. Then after I've finished they take everything out and re-arrange it, what's that all about? If people like packing their own shopping, they should just tell us.
And I repeat, we ARE NOT paid to pack people's shopping. In our contract it just says that we should pack the first few bags. If the customer asks us to pack for them, then we should. And this is the rule that we follow.
And I'm always polite to customers. But most of them aren't polite back. But what can you do about that?
And I would gladly pack people's shopping (all of it) if I knew that they appreciated it. But some of them don't have the decency to say a simple 'thank you' afterwards or even acknowledge that you even exist.0
