I usually let the idiots pass, it's great when you pull up next to them at the next set of lights. I always pip & wave to them:p

I like the breakfast bar description Poppy, we saw one earlier today and we were trying to work out A: How much more fuel the extra weight used and B: why anyone would need a shelf on the back of the car.

, quite liked the second one Duchy Camilla wore today. What do you think - suitable for driving in?;)

Looked like she'd been set up in the "Blessing" outfit, the town hall gear was fine but then she changed into a grey sack with a bird's nest on her head:eek:

I think if you wore it for driving all the birds would poop on your car for killing a brother:D

Oh as an oldie I thought the grey outfit was rather nice - better than Jacqs Vert which all the old biddies were rumaging in today in Debs sale. You would think with all her money she would have a decent hair do though. Getting back on topic of old people and no manners perhaps she doesn't thank her hairdresser so he/she gets their revenge with the hair style.:D

  • On the subject of manners, I believe it to be bad manners to draw attention to the failings of others in that department.

    I hold doors open for people, if I get a thank-you it's a bonus.

I beleive that TRADITIONALLY people WERE respectful and more helpful as it was a small community scanario. However, since industrialisation became globalisation, i do beleive the community spirit has gone and is now replaced with individualism which by its very nature combined with globalisation makes us very instrumental...

    but thats my opinion

Interesting thoughts there loopy_lass - not so sure I agree on the theory behind it though; something I shall ponder on!

    Hi All,

In the newsagents shop I work at I do get fed up of customers who walk up the till, and as someone said earlier, just shove a paper or can of drink on the counter, and wait in silence for you to servce then - Then leaving without even a thanks!

On the contrary, there are a great group of people who are extremely polite too, who always say good morning etc, and I try to treat them with as much respect as they do me.

At work, I do my best to be polite, saying Hello to all the customers, but when you feel like your talking to yourself you can understand why some people give up being polite!

    Cheers

    I've been Money Tipped!
I was in the bank the other day and after queuing for what seemed like an eternity I put all my bills down on the counter to be paid and because one of the credit card statements was for the bank next door, the woman pipes up, wouldn't you be quicker paying this next door??? I've paid before, all my bills there, no problems. So, due to the long wait, I frothed at the mouth, took my bills and walked out before I strangled someone. GRRRRRR

    hi smiley

at that point i would be closing my acocunt and taking all of my custom to the bank next door, followed by a strongly worded letter to the banks cheif exec.
Incidently if they were to say that again it might be an idea to tell them that you could go next door but that would risk the closure of your branch and the loss of their jobs if everyone did just that!

I especially hate when you have been standing in a long queue and either the assistant has taken forever with one customer or takes a phone call while dealing with a customer. Some of them never think to apologise for keeping you waiting. Its so hard to stay mad if someone is nice to you that it would defuse the situation straight away.

I have been the otherside of the counter when I had a weekend job in school. I have to say that I encountered very very few rude customers and the place I worked always had a huge queue snaking outside the building in the Summer (it was an icecream parlour). However some of my colleagues to say the least treated customers with contempt as if they were interrupting them. When I visit the icecream parlour now I notice that loads of the staff are sullen faced and impatient. It did used to annoy me that some customers had queued for 15 minutes with a menu board in shop window and overhead and then get to the front of the queue and say "oh I don't know what to have". I would give them a few seconds and smile nicely and ask if they minded if I served the next customer while they made up their mind. I would show no hint of annoyance and they always happily complied.

I do think overall as a society we have become much more impatient and demanding. Staff don't feel valued and don't see why they should give good service and customers don't feel valued either and don't receive good service. How do we rectify?
