Morning
I've decided to scrap the targets. I don't do well with targets. I'm just going to do what I can each day and let the money build up in various places.
OH and I are quite skint at the moment. Everything is paid though and OH gets paid on Friday. I'll have my DLA payment tomorrow, so we can get some shopping in. I had £1 spare on my card, so put some petrol in last night at the pay at the pump machine. That's my favourite trick - as long as I know the money will be there in 2 days time (so Wednesday in this case), then I put petrol in, they only check to see if £1 is available on the card and debit the money 2 days after.
I also went to Sainsburys last night and got some food to tide us over. Only £3 worth, but I had £2.50 on my Nectar card, so used that and paid the rest in loose change.
Speaking of Nectar, I joined Nectar Adpoints last week. I'm going to start going on there everyday and try to build up my points for when I have no money and need to buy some food. It's always great to have a back up in the form of free food.
I'm continuing with PADding every day, even if it's just 50p (which is pretty much all I can afford at the moment). I want to see how quickly I can get to below £41k.
Off to the cinema tonight to see a free movie. It's an action one, so more for OH than me, but at least it's free.

Just got a £10 Amazon voucher from a survey site, so have ordered my niece's Easter present (she wanted some Play Doh). My sister ordered something for my nephew, so I have gone halves with her on that. I just have to send her my next £10 Amazon voucher.

T-minus 32 hours before OH's parents land (I assume they arrive on broomsticks, because we always seem to have to use my car and never theirs!).
I'm not going to run around the flat like a mad woman getting the place spotless like I usually do when they visit. I'll put the hoover through and change the bed, but that's it. If they don't like it, they can stay in a hotel.
I got a nose bleed this morning - I think it's stress related due to the upcoming visit. See what they do to me?
Anyway, I finally have some money today :j. Unfortunately, most of it is spoken for. We're going shopping tonight for some food and OH has asked me to put £20 by for a takeaway tomorrow night (for when his parents arrive) just in case they don't offer to pay for it. I know, I know. Unbelievable. I argued with him about it, but he insisted and as long as I get it back from him on Friday, I guess it's his decision. I'll keep you updated on whether they pay for it or not.
There's also the matter of a meal at Chiquitos on Friday night. We have a 20% off coupon, but it will still cost quite a bit. OH is paying for that too. And I expect they will want a cooked breakfast on Friday morning. Hmm, I wonder who will pay for that?
I did the Boots offer on the weekly email this morning, so should get 600 points on my Advantage card in the next month or so (did the toolbar add on thing too).
Took my mum shopping yesterday afternoon and she got me 2 bottles of 7up and some vitamin tablets for taking her (see, that's why I love my mum so much, she's the complete opposite of OH's mother). The vitamins are multi-vits. The hospital put me on some Sanatogen ones, but they were massive!! I usually don't have a problem take any tablets, heck I take around 30-40 a day!, but these ones just felt like they got stuck in my throat every time and made me reach really badly for a while afterwards. So I took the executive decision of throwing them out and replacing them with Sainsbury's own brand (95p for 60) which are much smaller and easier to swallow.
Right, must get off to my mum's in a bit. She is getting a new window fitted in her living room and wants some help keeping my nephew away from all the chaos!

I hope the nose-bleed hasn't left you feel too depleted of energy, Emz. Helping to look after a toddler is hard enough as it is!

Can I be nosy and ask what PAD is please? You may have already explained but circumstances mean I can only dip in and out of MSE forums every now and then:(0 -
Goodness their visits fly around fast! It's not nice to feel so worked up that it affects your health though, and I know how tough it is to just turn those feelings off.
I read a while back from gallygirl about a method she uses. Hang on, I'll quote it here for you.....
This is advice she gave someone who was having issues with a colleague. I've read on other diaries of people who use this. If nothing else it's a nice distraction from the person's harsh words.OK, Thunderbirds - from wiki - "The series followed the adventures of International Rescue, a secretive organisation created to help those in grave danger using technically advanced equipment and machinery launched from its hidden Tracy Island base".
The most famous rescue vehicle was Thunderbirds 2 "Heavy supersonic VTOL carrier lifting body aircraft used for the transport of major rescue equipment and vehicles"
HERE it is in action.
OK, so now you know what I am talking about........ in the launch you'll see it picking up a pod. What you need to do is the following:
- Pick an ideal cupboard or filing cabinet for Thunderbirds to live (in your imagination). Preferably one behind where the colleague sits.
- Whenever you see the colleague approaching you need to scramble Thunderbirds 2. Except instead of it picking up Pod 6, as it did in the clip, it picks up a large bell jar - big enough to drop over your colleague.
- Thunderbirds 2 approaches her from behind and drops the bell jar over her. All the negativity is inside the jar with her and although you can see and hear her you cannot feel it.
OK, this is a lighthearted solution but it is based on a well known technique where you cover yourself in a protective bubble to stop other people's negativity touching you. I'm a bit claustrophobic and didn't see why I should be the one affected.
Try it . It really worked for me when a colleague was being very negative. When I saw him approaching I would scramble Thunderbirds 2 and 'watch' it fly after him and drop the belljar over him. Complete with music (that is the theme tune in the clip). By the time he reached me I would be grinning (especially if the belljar had clunked him on the way down). It really helped me get through it. My relentless cheerfulness has broken his spirit now :rotfl:.
If the colleague sits very close you may need Thunderbirds 2 hovering permanently overhead, ready to lower and lift as necessary. Maybe you could devise a secret signal - tapping the desk or something - to activate it.
Try googling "protect from negativity - bubble" to see where I got the idea from - I prefer Thunderbirds to a guardian angel.
GG x
I hope that helps you too. I think I may adopt it too!0
