Tidied the flat up (not as well as I usually do it, still took me 3 hours though!). I told OH that if I hear one negative comment regarding anything in my flat (joking or not) then they will be out of the flat and looking for a hotel for the night.
I also asked him what seriously gives them the right to come into my home and demand that I give up my bed and sleep on the sofa. He replied that they were old. My response was 'but I'm old'. He just laughed. So I explained that the average life expectancy for an adult in the UK is 80.4 years. His dad is the older of the 2 and he's 70. The average life expectancy of someone with cystic fibrosis is 38. I'm 32 next month. Therefore, I am closer to my average life expectancy than they are. Who is older now?? He didn't say anything because I think he knows I'm right.
I'm going to speak to his mother and say that in future they're going to have to stay in a hotel when they want to visit. We only have a 1 bed flat with 4 rooms (inc the bathroom) and it's just not on that they stay over for 2 nights at a time and I get very little sleep when they do. I know it will cause problems, but they are being so selfish and these visits are getting more regular. If we had a 2 bedroom flat, I wouldn't mind as much, but having to give my bed up really annoys me, even if it is just for 2 nights.
Wish me luck with that!!

32 in to 38 is 84%
Thus the father is further through the average life expectancy....
Though saying that....why don't they get a hotel?Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

Oops, my bad. Maths was never my strongest point.
They are very tight and don't like to spend money when they can take advantage of someone for free. In truth, they have lots of money and are always bragging about savings accounts with thousands in them and shares worth thousands etc.

Thanks Lou and Pap.
Something definitely has to change with regard to these visits. I'm not having more sleepless nights because of them.
They paid half of the meal but then his dad complained that I had 2 drinks (only cokes) so I practically threw £2 at him and asked if that would cover it. I wasn't polite about it but I was so tired and grouchy, that I didn't care.
I've been awake since 1.30am.

Let me guess, he had one drink but was a beer/wine at circa £4+ They really make me mad and to then rub it in that they have the money but refuse to spend it is even worse. I guess they know you don't have a '9-5' so they would know you don't have a lot of money even if they don't know you are in debt. There is being careful with money but they seem to just be unwilling to part with any... at your expense!
Aww thats not fair, thats sleeping on a camp bed/sofa for you! Are they going back today or tomorrow? i hope your OH stands by you when you refuse them a room next time they are down.0 -
Even though she made light and changed the subject, you've done your bit by letting them know. So it can't come as any surprise when the bed isn't made up for their visit next time. It may be worth having a few hotel numbers with you for their next stay, just in case (even some room rates if you can). I don't mean that in a mean way, just that if they try to use the "I'm old and need a proper bed and don't have time to search for hotels now" you have the details in front of you.

Words fail me as usual on this topic.

They've gone. Sweet relief I can tell you!
I went to visit my grandma this morning as it's her birthday and by the time I came back, they had gone. They're coming back on 23rd April for 1 night - watch this space. However, until then, I don't even want to think about them. They just get me agitated.
One more thought on the matter though. I think next time, I'm not going to clean for them especially. In fact, I might live like a pig for the next month and then they might be so disgusted with the state of my flat, that they won't want to stay ever again!! :rotfl:
Anyway, OH took me out for a meal to say sorry for the past couple of days (mainly the only getting 7 hours sleep in 48 hours part).
In the early hours of yesterday morning, I was reading an article on a woman with CF (I think she was American, but same principle). She ran through a day in her life and basically she stated that she just sees food as fuel for her body. Not that she didn't like food, but she would eat a snack even if she didn't particularly feel like it, so that she didn't run short on energy during the day. She also ate everything on her plate, even if she was already full.
I think that's my problem when it comes to food - I eat when I'm hungry, but I need to eat more regularly. I sometimes feel quite weak when I haven't eaten enough too.
So that's what I've been doing for the last day. I ate all of my meal last night and still came home and had a glass of full fat milk and a chocolate mousse. I then had a cheese sandwich for breakfast (not really keen on breakfast and didn't have much else in the flat) and shortly after had half an Easter egg and another glass of milk. I ate all of my lunch and have just eaten 2 mini pizzas (including the crusts, which I normally leave).
I feel better for it. I haven't felt weak at all today. I feel pretty full all the time, but I'm still going to eat at regular intervals. I think that this might increase my energy levels too. Hard to tell today seeing as I've only had 3 hours sleep.
I've got the hospital on 26th April (day after my birthday), so I'm going to see how much weight I can gain before then (I'm currently 8st 1lbs). I'll keep you posted.

Finally got a good night's sleep last night. It got to 8.30pm and I couldn't keep my eyes open.
Went to see Jack the Giant Slayer with my sister this morning on some free tickets. It wasn't too bad. Glad it was free though. Also went for a KFC afterwards.
£30 paid off the debt on Friday

Morning
Just posting quickly as I'm going to see my niece perform a concert at 9.30am. Then I'm meeting up with a friend for lunch (my turn to pay though unfortunately).
I've paid £166 to the council tax arrears today :j
OH is off on Thursday night. He's going on a stag holiday. Not sure where exactly, but they are going skiing. It has cost him a small fortune. Whatever happened to a night out for a stag do?? Anyway, he's going on Thursday, then he's going straight from the airport next week to his parents for Easter and not coming home until Easter Monday. A whole 10 days to myself!!! I'm so excited I can't tell you. It feels like I'm getting a holiday too
