With the answers you have given, I think it is highly likely they will be asking for the money back for the period they are querying.
His car insurance could be invalid if he is not residing at the wifes address, he should have amended the address.
Maybe he should contact CAB as our suggestions are hitting a brick wall.
Good luckMortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!
MFW 2015 £100 /£1000
Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!0 -
What about foreign holidays with a new partner? His passport/travel agents records may be able to help with that...... unless he doesn't like flying, of course.... which would be unfortunate.0

What about the ex wife does she have a boyfriend happy to corroborate that no ex husband is sharing her residence?0

MObile phone is paid by work......he is a man who likes the simple route so not keen on over complicating matters.....lived at two addresses in the 8 years but both cash for rent and no rent agreements as such. Good point about the reduction in council tax 8 years ago though, that is worth mentioning.0

Wife has boyfriend but not been on the scene more than a few months....holidays with girlfriend (not the wife's girlfriend, his girlfriend!!!) booked in her name and through her address, don't think passports are registered to an actual address are they?0

I think they will need something more than just a corroborating statement on this one. It might also be worth pointing out the rather steep penalties in place for "perverting the course of justice".
It may also have a huge, negative impact on his relationship with his "landlord" when HMRC come knocking on his door and going through his tax affairs for the past 8 years. Dog with a bone doesn't even come close.
And if his "tenancy" meant that the "landlords" single person discount was misapplied...... wooops.
And, of course, last years census must have been provided with false information. That's another offence to pay for!
As stated elsewhere, his car insurance may be effected, or even invalidated, and if he picked up any points in the last 8 years and gave false details, there's another visit to the beak.
Looks like being a very expensive separation whichever way it works out.0 -

No. But travel agents/airlines keep records of who travels.0 -

Only if he can establish he wasn't living there. Otherwise, it's just another potential offence.0 -
The words cake and eat it come to mind.
As other have said the whole thing stinks of a collusive separation and I think this is probably the route HMRC will go down. If they haven't invited you for an IUC think yourself lucky.
Also if you have claimed any other benefits then the LA and/or DWP may come knocking if the HMRC pass their information on.0 -

Which they will. They're good like that.0
