funny you say that, i keep saying i fancy a few days away in edinburgh!!

regarding his views on wedding style, we both agree on the same things when we discuss it, hes not into the over the top wedding either and hes not that fussed about his whole family, he would want his immediate family invited but i dont think he cares too much further than mum, dad, partners, sister and family etc

So if you aren't fussed about a big, expensive showy wedding and you've discussed what sort of wedding you would like why are you so fussed about some fairytale proposal in the 'right' setting?

thank you!! i was starting to feel disheartened!!..

'poor bloke' ive been with him 4.5 years.. waiting.. i think i am allowed to start applying the pressure slightly?!!

I've been with my OH for four and a half years too and I know I'll be with him for many more, I don't care about being married though, I'd rather have his heart than any piece of paper.

i get that and i hear so many people say that

however, we own a home together and unless we are married if anything happened to me he wouldnt automatically get my share of the house so there are benefits to being married if it is only giving my OH peace of mind should the worst happen!

He will if you are joint tenants. If you are tenants in common then he won't. It was a choice that would have been given to you when you bought the house.

We chose tenants in common as it was my family who helped with the deposit so we decided I should 'own' more of the property if anything happened

My understanding though is that marriage wouldn't change the fact that you hold the house as tenants in common, you would still continue to do so.

A will, however, would allow you to provide that your share would go to him.

Think you need to think of another reason to get married.
