Has been a fixing day today. DD2 decluttered to hospital - appointment letter said allow 3 hours for appointment - big girl now, so left her to get it done ;)

came home - de-frogged the Poll Tax and went to put in handbag with stamps ready to buy the right sized envelope (all I have are big A4 size for Dad's probate stuff that shouldn't be folded) otherwise postage is King's ransom

Found someone has helped themselves to my expensive colour correcting foundation compact, and now it looks suspiciously like DD3's one from the other week :mad::mad: operation salvage began - got two conserve pots with lids from kitchen, some rubber bands, found stray pair of tights with runs in legs, but feet intact :p:p

Broke up the remaining powder into loose crumbs 3/4 filled each conserve pot. Double wrapped tight mesh over the lid of pot, secured each one with TWO elastic bands and replaced lid - then put back into my make up bag in handbag with brush - very thrifty :money: but seeing as I rarely wear makeup these days, I can't justify binning it and buying a new one, as I only bought it in September.

DS broke one of the spokes on his umbrella last week, and has been inconsolable. Tried getting a replacement from C0-0p when I n tout and about yesterday, and it was a one time offer - none left. No other shops had that exact one, and all others that might have been acceptable were 3 times the price - so I got the needle and thread out and sewed through the hole for the missing rivet, and it seems a sturdy enough repair for now - thrifty X 2 today :money:

My food processor burned out early in the Summer as DD1 was doing a milkshake diet with Pharmacy supervision for several months. I kept all the spares, to buy a replacement when I got around to it (out of guarantee sadly). I has been annoying me the last few days that I am grating breadcrumbs by hand on a cheese grater and I have a drawer full of accessories that are next to useless - so I went window shopping to see if I could get a replacement for it, so I could justify keeping the spare bowl and jug - or lobb them in favour of a better/cheaper model - The shop I bought it from didn't have that model and nothing that ticked all the boxes in the price range I wanted so I left empty handed.

Was de-cluttering my main email account and check junk to find the online shop is doing a 100 hour sales event starting at 2pm today.....got my exact model 1/3 off and delivery for tomorrow :D:D:D very happy so I am counting that as a thrifty fix no 3 for today.:money:

Have to go de-clutter DD3 from after-school poetry club now, and then I really must stop procrastinating and get some Wednesday flying done - will be back later to ask/beg for some company

catch up again in a bit!
The cold never bothered me anyway

Hi, I'm a newbie. I think the idea is great but worried I'll spend more time reading the forum than actually doing the lists and stuff. I find forums very addictive! Anyway, I'm currently pleased with myself for losing 6lb mainly by using an on-line site to record everything I eat; the thought of having to 'own up' to everything I try and shove into my mouth gives me just enough incentive to resist quite a bit. Low on willpower, me.

So, I thought as I like IT perhaps this would be a good incentive to de-clutter and do some housework. My main problems are:
    1. I don't actually hate housework; I just prefer reading, looking up all sorts of interesting stuff on the internet.....and anything except housework really. It's just low on my list of priorities. I just don't notice.
    2. Despite teaching organisation skills for a living, I don't actually apply it to my home. My family would say I'm untidy. My workmates would say I'm organised and good at processes.
    3. I'm a really good starter but a hopeless finisher. As an example, this time last year, I made a humungous effort to clear out my home office so it could be decorated in time for Christmas. I threw away loads of stuff, went through all paperwork etc, and the room was decorated. BUT I didn't set up enough 'systems' to maintain what I'd newly organised. I wanted it to get to the stage where it would be easy to maintain, and I'd like walking into the room. FAILED.

Anyway that's quite enough of a rambling introduction. Maybe just writing it down will spur me on to doing something. I could probably have done a 10 minute blitz somewhere instead of writing this.....
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

    Welcome Narc.

CY - I saw that article in the press earlier and thought what a lovely thing to do. Didn't realise it was your DD1. Well done her. Was in York earlier today, probably walked past you!

Well only one thing off my list since yesterday morning - test smoke alarm - but I have been keeping up with the dailies.

Blowing a gale here and I've got to go out later to pick DD up from work.

As per usual re flying, I must try harder. About to look up a recipe for cod. Otherwise DH and I will not eat tonight (I haven't told him I've already eaten 6 mini iced fingers and a child size bag of sweets).

    Have a great evening everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.

Oh dear! I hope no one was hurt. It's been wet and windy here too but so far nothing too damaging.
All quiet (for now) and DS had eaten before bed, without being sick. Poor dd has a sore bum so I've put her magic cream on. She cried but it will be better by morning. Hopefully was just a 24hr bug...
We need to get out tomorrow...
