I hope I don't get stoned but I CAN'T do the grocery challenge for December. Hubby is coming back from overseas and I will be spending on goodies such as a duck for Christmas Day. We have a birthday and a wedding anniversary. We also have a family reunion to celebrate a wedding and baby in the family and we are suppose to bring something to the event.
I will try to keep the budget around £300 but don't think I can do it for less.
    Sorry, I feel like such a wimp...:p

I certainly wouldn't worry about it! Just go careful and write down what you spend then you can watch yourself as you go along! It will keep you on track without depriving you. It is the "accountability" factor which helps I believe-whether only on paper or on here as well. The exercise of writing it down is your reminder to keep on track. Never mind what the totals are within reason-at least that way you won't look back at December wondering where your money went!

Went to Morrisons yesterday and for the first time I tried their value bread. Now I normally hate the stuff from all of the other shops. This however-was perfect!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

No grocery spends since Friday so that's good as a lot was spent last week! My month is til the 25th so 3 weeks to go with a good amount of money left. Next couple of weeks will be difficult as getting a new kitchen fitted, so going to have to buy and cook lots of food this weekend ready for next week, and prob will end up with microwave meals a few days which might up the spending. Oh well, we are angling for invites to various family members for dinner over the next couple of weeks! Hopefully will all be finished before Christmas, with Christmas dinner to cook for 8!

Have you got a slowcooker? A steamer? These would compliment your microwave and stop you living on readymeals!

I notice Lidl have got Bread flour for 59p so it's only a few pece more than the ordinary plain flour and more versatile. I bought 2 packets.
Just used up some of last nights cabbage and carrots with some bacon offcuts and some smash with grated cheese then panfiried the smash. A tasty change to the norm. Yesterday we had sausages and real mash with cabbage and carrots.

Spent £3.38 on icing sugar and ready roll icing but since half of it will be used on decorating cakes for christmas, I'm only counting £1.69 as groceries - it's for our christmas cake! Yum! x :j

Edit: OH informs me he spent £1.89 on a ready meal as we ran out of bread for sandwiches (due to a certain party losing the Aldi vouchers last night and coming away disgraced and empty handed!)
    Grocery challenge:December 2022 £151.96/£400 . Advent decluttering challenge 47/240.

We do! I have started preparing today, so far cooked 3 portions of curry and 5 of chilli. Also have stewing steak ready to make stew and a side of salmon to make fish pie so should have most of it covered!

Then jacket pots in the microwave and all good!

Had massive spends today but havent figured out the grocery section yet! Decided to make lots of personalised chocolate slabs for xmas pressies so spent a fortune on choc but should come to less than £5 per person and the first two are looking good!

Will add spends when I figure how much is from grocery budget and how much from Christmas budget!

I'm finding that I'm eating better by doing the grocery challenge. I've bought and cooked proper food and haven't bought any junk. I usually make my own fairy cakes for my son, but "treats" were starting to appear in the trolley for me. That's stopped thankfully and long may it last.
